I had thanksgiving dinner with this guy cow, he was in green bay for his tryout and needed a place to go so I treated him with some Wisconsin hospitality. He also told me about his platonic love affair with you. He thinks you are such a great talent evaluator and you will be Detroit's next GM.

Good luck to the guy, I think the big message is Ty Montgomery isn't coming back this year.

The only question the Packers should ask about Moore or anything other WR they bring in.

Can they catch the ball?

If they can catch the ball, they should be signed immediately.

Moore was only released last week. He's had a couple highly productive stretches with the Raiders in his past and isn't all that old (2011 draft?).

Because we're dealing with Ted T. Moore would be a decent #2 at least behind Cobb and he can catch the ball. He's worked in a West Style Offense with Hue Jackson in Oakland.

These are his Combine and Pro Day stats. Notice one thing, SPEED!

Not a #2 Nick, but he might be a guy who can help. 6' with 33" arms and a pretty good vertical (36"). 5th round pick, with many scouting reports suggesting he was the 12th best WR in the 2011 draft and projecting him to go in rounds 3-5. I've linked to a 4 year old scouting report and to his NFL Stats. He has caught 33, 46 and 51 receptions for a fine yds/catch average. Fast big play guy.

You all realize the Packers (and every team) bring players in weekly for workouts - all different positions. So this may or may not mean anything. (although, it's interesting that Moore is also a kick/punt returner). They actually brought 3 WR in this week and 1 QB - does that mean Rodgers might be getting benched?

The five players brought in were WR Denarius Moore (Tennessee), WR Larry Pinkard (Old Dominion), WR Ify Umodu (Northern Arizona), CB Brandon McGee (Miami) and QB Matt Behrendt (UW-Whitewater).

Yes...

The players that intrigue me the most that they brought in is Moore, Pinkard and McGee.

Moore I am sure they brought in to see if he could be an upgrade over anyone they have.

Pinkard I really liked as the preseason wore on. He has some really good speed and seemed to really improve every day until he got injured. I am assuming they brought him back in to see how he has progressed.

McGee is a guy they could be interested in for the PS? He has the speed and is from The U, where they have had some recent success with CB's.

I am assuming since we haven't heard anything about them signing any of them that they passed on them?

I am also assuming that since they brought in 3 WR's they brought in the QB to throw to the 3.

Al seriously, why is Cow allowed here? It's one thing to come as a oposing teams fan and have a little fun but this is beyond that, WAY BEYOND! He's already said he was a Texans Fan earlier in the week and judging by the number of comments just in the last 10 days and the content of the comments, he's ONLY here to stir shit up. I call em "Key Board Warriors" because they wouldn't say it in a Packers Bar or Lambeau, they do it from their mothers basements.

And please answer Nick's question as to why Cow is allowed to post. As long as he is I'm going to continue to respond to every post he puts up.

Why is it interesting that Moore is a KR and a PR? We have a couple of KRs and a couple of PRs. It doesn't hurt that he can do these things, but his 7.7 yd PR average and 15.3 yard KR average don't do much for me.

This is what Ron Wolf did better than most GMs: he was always auditioning players and turning over the bottom of the roster. If you were sitting in one of the bottom 3-5 roster spots, you better not unpack your bags because you could be out of town any time.

Moore has had some productive games and stretches with the Raiders (and with some iffy QB play). He's nothing special in terms of his size, but is athletic and can outrun a shout. A try-hard type who is about the same age as Cobb. Not a bad look...

The offense around him has been shitty, not iffy. Bad and banged up receivers, not much of a running for a stretch, bad o-line play. So as usual the QB gets all the blame/credit. His career hasn't been a fluke. A QB needs talent to work with, something you cowpie know nothing about.
YOU SUCK.

It's amazing to me how you give up on your team and A. Rodgers of all the players on this team when they face some adversity. I'm really glad that I was never in a foxhole with you in a back to back situation, because obviously you would have cut and run as soon as the sh_t starting flying. Pinkard would be better than Moore. Moore has a catch percentage of 46%, and he has played 4 years NFL already. He also has a great total of 142 catches in 57 games, meaning 2.5 catches avg per game. Wow would be a great addition. I'd rather keep Adams... The only thing Moore brings to the table is a 4.39 40 yard speed. But Pinkard is also having great speed with 4.41 so I'd rather give him the chance if they sign anybody.

Oh yeah, and one more thing - Moore was with the Raiders last season and behind Jones. Who would think that Moore is better than Jones is delusional...

What intrigues me more is that they don't activate TE Mitchell Henry from the PS. He was apparently catching everything during training camp.

And just think, we could have Bolden for a 6th round pick too, just like the 49ers. I think that's the year Ted wanted that 6th rounder for Ricky Elmore though. Good thing, he didn't even make the Practice Sqaud he was so bad.

Interestingly, earlier in the season, there was an "Next Gen Stats" breakdown that highlighted a big James Jones touchdown, and he was clocked at a max speed of over 21 MPH, and they noted it was the second fastest speed attained by a ball carrier on a TD touch that week in the NFL.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/next-gen-stats/0ap3000000558587/NFL-Fantasy-Li...

I have a feeling what James Jones isn't anymore is quick... but he's certainly still fast.

Jones has never been fast, nor is he particularly quick. The comparison to Boldin is more appropriate. Both have always won by being physical. Boldin much more so than Jones is.

Said it when they signed him. Probably a good sign since he had knowledge of the Packers schemes and a relationship with Rodgers but he is and always has been limited. Just a decent #3 or 4 WR.

He'll probably be out ofthe league next year.

Well, you're wrong about him never being fast, because if you watched the clip, there was only one player in the NFL who ran faster than he did for a TD that week.. So, he just WAS fast.

I liked Pinkard a lot. He definitely flashed his speed with that 80 yard TD catch in the preseason. If he is healthy I would sign him.

I liked Henry a lot. And he caught a lot 1 handed, since one of his hands was in a cast. I believe if he wouldn't have been signed by the Broncos, the Packers would have put him on the PS vs Perillo. In which case they would have promoted him to the 53 over Perillo.

If Quarless wasn't about to return, I wouldn't mind seeing them promote Henry.

He's no longer in the league because he showed in his last stints with Tennessee and others that either 1. he can't still play or 2. he wasn't really interested in playing anymore. If that had changed, he'd be in uniform somewhere.

Whatever you do, don't play Janis. He irritates the experts, the coaches, the fans and number 12 apparently. Other than that he has made the biggest plays for the Packers in the last 4 or 5 weeks.

Anyone notice that a certain Brock Osweiler just led the Broncos to two wins over the Bears and the Patriots. The Packer coaching staff would bench him as soon as Manning can play. The Bronco coaching staff and managers (John Elway) may be smarter than that.

So, start someone else. If Rodgers can't hack it, play someone else.

I think Adams has played himself out of playing time, and if that's the case, someone has to take some snaps. If Janis is the only WR available, he'll get defacto snaps.

If Abberderris is available, he'll probably get more of them.

Janis making big plays on ST doesn't mean he's ready to play WR full time.
There's no question he's big, fast, and physical, and yes, we've seen that on KR. Doesn't necessarily translate to offense.

There is a question as to his ability to run routes, something he doesn't have to do as a KR and you absolutely must be able to do as a WR.

Desmond Howard, Devin Hester... Out of this world athletes who excelled at returns. Neither amounted to a whole lot as WRs.

Good point about Howard and Hester. I'll bet if there was one position group that has had the best athletes on the field that failed it would be the WR group.

Year after year, Olympic caliber athletes find their way on to the 53 only to fizzle out. We'll see about Janis. If they're bring in this Moore guy to fill the bottom of the position group, it will really speak volumes about how they feel about Janis.

I will say, since I saw many of Abby's games at UW, how amazed I was on how many big plays he made. He constantly found ways to get open even when the QB play, sans Wilson, was lacking. A decent athlete, but certainly not elite. If he had health I believe he would have pleasantly surprised a lot of GB fans.

I think this move may be a combination of Montgomery not looking good to return (MM said just the other day he's still not making 'any progress') and the news today from WR Coach Alex Van Pelt saying Adams' ankle's still affecting him. Whether you believe the Adams news or not (why is this just coming up now and why hasn't he been sat like they supposedly did earlier to give him more time after re-injuring it when they HAVE Janis?), it can only be a positive for them.

Moore's history's kinda weird. Dude can burn downfield and yes, he had drop issues in the past but he also has been handled by 2 organizations (Oak/Buff) who don't exactly have a track record of eyeing good talent (Oak maybe recently but not in 2012 when they let him & Palmer go). The one team he was picked up by that does identify good talent, the Bengals, was so flush at WR they didn't need him and Dalton doesn't exactly throw a great deep ball like A-Rod. I'd say if he can still burn, Rodgers can definitely use him because I never remember hearing criticism he was a bad route runner or had problems picking up schemes or anything which is their complaints not to use Janis. He worked with Hue Jackson so I'm not sure if that scheme matches GB's but if so, I think he'd be a great fit at a good price. All I can say to Thompson is: remember Andre Rison's addition in '95 and what it did for that team, be brave & bold baby! Time is now to play with changes and fix this team for a playoff run!

all i want is for them to give Janis a shot. Right now what can it hurt. Adams Can't catch a cold even in Lambo. Jones is having a hard time getting separation. Cobb doing ok but also dropping a few. They could defiantly use Janis to stretch the field.
