Packers Select Utah OLB Trevor Reilly in Fourth Round of #MockOne Draft

The Packers select a player coming off a nine-sack season his senior season in college in our mock draft exercise.

With the 21st selection in the fourth round, 121st overall, the Green Bay Packers Utah's Trevor Reilly in the #MockOne Draft.

At 6' 5" and 245 lbs. would bring length and strength to the traditional outside linebacker role in Green Bay.

Reilly was increasingly productive each year of his college career, culminating in a senior season that saw him make 100 tackles, 16.5 for a loss and nine sacks.

The downside to Reilly is his age. He's currently 26 years old, having worked one year after high school and then spending two years on a church mission. Married and with two kids, Reilly is more mature than most other prospects coming out for this year's draft, but will have fewer years left in the tank as well.

Reilly is also coming off a knee procedure that prevented him from taking part in an all-star game and the NFL Combine, but it was a clean-up on his on his meniscus and scar tissue and nothing new to repair. He originally had ACL surgery in 2012 but never missed a game.

With other edge pass rushers on the roster such as Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, Nick Perry and Mike Neal, Reilly will have difficulty finding immediate playing time, but as one line of thinking goes, you can never have enough good pass rushers.

Other players considered with the Packers' fourth round pick were California defensive lineman Deandre Coleman, Kent State running back/receiver Dri Archer and South Florida outside linebacker Aaron Lynch.

Given his age, Reilly was a man among boys in college. He'll be among other men in the Pros. I realize 4th round prospects will have warts. But age is one that I have a real hard time overlooking. By the time a typical 1-2 year developmental period is over, it will almost be time to start looking for signs of decline.

The window of success with this pick is just too narrow, IMO.

The biggest thing about these two scenarios is that we get Mosley/Shazier in round 1. Mosley starts day 1 and Shazier by mid-season. Amaro or ASJ is Ok too, but I have other preferences for pick #53, but don't know who was off the board. Garoppolo has a chance, but he is a waste of a pick. He'll sit for a couple of years and force GB to keep 3 QBs on the roster because he wouldn't be able to go on PS, and probably wouldn't be able to give a spot start should AROD get hurt in this season. Loston and Bailey are strong safeties, not FS: they would be replacing Burnett, not MD Jennings. Way too high for Bailey (5th to 6th round). I can see Reilly, but he is a bit old, and to say that he might have trouble finding the field behind CM, Perry, Neal, Peppers at times is accurate. Being a GM is not easy!
