FIT WITH THE PACKERS:

Bullard was a corner back in High School and star/slot in his first two years at Georgia but he profiles to start at safety next to Xavier McKInney.

COMMENTARY:

Many think Bullard is the most versatile safety in the class -- the same that was said about free agent acquisition Xavier McKinney. Bullard makes it so the team can "rock and roll" the safeties. Adjusting which is the deep center fielder and which is in the box helping against the run depending on the strength of the offense. It will also make it far easier to disguise coverages and blitz schemes when you never know which safety is going to have what responsibility. The Packers filled their three big needs with their first three picks, now they have approximately 56 more picks to go crazy for the rest of the draft.

Holy Cats! My projected first 5:
Edgerrin Cooper
Jordan Morgan
Javon Bullard
Blake Fisher, OT
Elijah Jones, CB
...flip-flopped Morgan and Cooper, Fisher just went off the board to Houston in Rd. 2, but somehow got the first 3.

I like this pick. A little short, but a willing, physical guy. TImed speed is not as fast as Savage, but better instincts.

This is a good draft that’s fallen very nicely for us so far. I think IOL and CB wait till the 5th and 6th potentially, and there’s good options there if we do.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gute use some of that day 3 capital to move up from 88.

After last night I wanted to see what Gute would do in these next 2 rounds. IMO he's knocked it out of the park PLUS picked up a few extra day 3 picks. I like the idea of Walker and Cooper in the middle and McKinney and Bullard on the backend.

I think the middle of the field will FINALLY be defended!

Versatile player, might be best suited for slot corner….Needs to add some weight if playing safety, I did like Bishop size wise for safety, but Bullard has great versatility and I think the Packers really like that scheme wise. We’ll see how it pans out. Gutey fill the needs in the 2nd round!

A great draft . Unbelievable that we have gotten what we have and to have 13 total. Just too Gute to be true. Basically there are 3 or 4 who will be in
the NFC playoff picture and the Packers are right there barring major injuries !

I like the idea of interchangeable safeties, and now it looks like that wasn't just idle talk from Gute. They could still draft a bigger, harder-hitting safety to play in certain situations, though. They have a lot more picks!

Here are my latest two comments about draft:

I see the biggest needs in the draft is C-G, LB and S. These players I hope will not be pure developmental, but actually push competition for starting jobs. I expect Gute to pick up some cheap S and LB players for depth.

AND: It would be best if the draft provides one or two picks that can compete for starting jobs. I don't care if that is a G-C or a OT and slide Tom over to center.

The Pack has three picks who will compete for starting jobs. And with Morgan, that may allow them to slide Tom to Center. Let's see what round three does. Perhaps another lineman and RB

Man it was a coin flip for me between Bullard and Bishop, really like them both but assume Bullard fits what Hafley wanted for his defense a bit more.

Hoping for RBs Jalen Wright or Audric Estime, OL Dominick Puni, Christian Mohagany , LB Cedric Gray, S Malik Mustapha, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. Double dip time maybe.

I can't say Bullard was much of an option during my draft sims. However, Safety most definitely was a need. The roster of guys that wore the Packer logo with those wrong colors is growing. Worse things can happen. Great college teams have great players. I look forward to seeing Hafley use the nearly ridiculous level of talent on defense that has been less than the sum of the parts under previous DCs.
