Packers Reportedly Work Out Mississippi State S Nickoe Whitley

The Green Bay Packers, along with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, put Mississippi State through a workout on Thursday, according to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net.

Presumably they worked out Whitley at the same time as quarterback Tyler Russell, as previously reported.

Whitely is the ninth-rated safety in this year's draft class by Cheesehead TV's own Pro Football Draft Preview, likely higher than any other outlet you'll find.

Because of a lengthy injury history, Whitley is being overlooked and will perhaps go undrafted. As a senior, he willingly played with a torn ACL from Week 3 onward (with the exception of the Bulldogs' bowl game) and still managed to be named second-team All-SEC after making 55 tackles, five interceptions and two forced fumbles. Whitley has since had surgery to repair his knee.

In 2011 Whitley also suffered a ruptured Achilles, which he came back from to play at a high level.
