Packers Question of the day - Packers, Bears: What to Watch?

The 191st match-up between the Packers and Bears will take place tonight, and with both teams riddled with injuries, there may be a lot more to keep an eye on than most think.

Reserves will get a lot of action for the Packers, including the likes of Kentrell Brice and, depending whether or not they pull the trigger on promoting him, Don Jackson. Perhaps the move has been made, but no announcement has come from the organization just yet until game-time to preserve the "surprise" attack with someone who may provide the running game with a secret weapon.

Wishful thinking, yes. But without that move, the Packers will go into their second straight game with a one healthy, active running back on their roster — Knile Davis.

What are you specifically looking to watch against the Bears?

I would like to see Brice get more snaps. He has the speed and hitting ability to be a difference maker type of player.

I would expect Jackson to be elevated from the PS today. I doubt they will go into the game with 1 healthy RB who just joined the team 2 days ago.

I think Jackson will get more playing time then Davis, but I am looking forward to seeing what both RB's will do.

The other player on offense I am looking forward to seeing is Ty Montgomery. He has become the Swiss army knife of our offense.

He could be the x-factor of our offense tonight.

I'm looking for Janis or Davis to make a play. With Abby and Adams banged up Jordy and Cobb having their good days and bad days we need help from other people. Man up guys let's go!

Yeah, i would like to see Davis get a little more playing time. He played a lot against the Lions, but really hasn't much since.

That is exactly what I am looking for EdLaces as well. Troy Aikman hit the nail on the head covering the game Sunday, "You are only as good as your 3rd receiver, and that was good when Cobb was the #3, not so now". I don't know a player in recent history who was given as much time as Adams to produce and has not done the job but lines up as a starter and plays the entire game each week. From the coaches stand point the injury to Janis and Davis being a rookie may have been the reason Adams still was there to begin the season, time to find out if we can improve our #3 WR.

Yes time to unwrap Janis and Davis, along with Monty. Why wait, lets see what they can do, certainly nothing to lose.

Packer Def. front 7 vs their pass protect. It's going to be tough for the bottom 4 CB's to hold up without a big game from 2 or 3 DL/LB. On the other side of the ball, #12 must spread the ball around early in the game to keep an also depleted Chi. D off balance. Wish it could be this simple!

Chicago hasn't given up a lot of sacks, but the hope is that with Sitton out, their line won't be as good. I think you hit the nail on the head here: the Packers will have to get pressure on Hoyer tonight and make him improvise because he's no threat to run. He's like Eli in that regard: get him off his spot and make him uncomfortable and he'll make mistakes.

Couldn't we do better than Davis I mean cmon Ted. This is sad. He knows AR sucks and we need to lean on the run and he gets us a 2nd rate rb? I mean Jackson came from a tiny school and only had like 700 yards wtf. Don't these small school rbs normally have like 20,000 yards ? Couldn't trade for a backup RB that's young with some promise? Like an Alex Collins type?

I have no idea about any better then Davis. Davis has talent. And he has a ton of speed, which will be a nice change from what we are used to.

Jackson played at Nevada. Not that small of a school. I know Jackson was used in tandem with another RB. He has good speed. I have no clue what he will offer.
But I do wonder if a part of the reason why they didn't bring in another RB is because they liked what they saw from Jackson.

Eddie Lacy put on IR...

Lacy will need to undergo ankle surgery and will head to injured reserve, a source informed told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport reported that the injury is "more than an ankle sprain," and that after a second opinion, surgery on it was a necessity.

You wont be watching fat ass eddy for a while if ever, he is having surgery and going on IR, probably for the entire year or Shields is out the whole year. My bet it Lacy because he will be way to fat by then. What a waste.

I think the Bears should have activated Cutler, he could have had a career night against that pass d. Hell a high school QB could have a career night. Shields or no shields.

This team is seriously out of conditioning. Again this year. Must be a pretty cheap investment of a conditioning coach

Sounds like Lacy may be done for the season and maybe as a Packer. TT needs to rebuild the running game from scratch thanks to his brilliant plan of having no one available to back up Lacy against Dallas. As for tonight's game I'll be watching to see if AR comes out of his funk and can carry this team again. If not, we're probably in for a long evening. Thanks, Since '61
