Packers, NFL Host Bill Signing Ceremony for Youth Concussion Protection

Packers president Mark Murphy publicly supported the bill protecting young athletes in the state of Wisconsin.

The Green Bay Packers and the NFL hosted a bill-signing ceremony Monday at Lambeau Field for AB259, the Sidelined for Safety Act.

The bill protects young athletes from returning to sports competition until they're free of symptoms and cleared by a health care provider that's been trained in concussion and head injury management.

“Today’s bill signing represents a big victory for all youth athletes throughout the state,” said Packers president Mark Murphy. “The law reflects the concussion management and return-to-play guidelines that apply in the NFL.  We apply one simple rule: medical decisions must always come before competitive ones.  No exceptions.”

More information about the bill and the NFL's participation can be found from this press release from the league.
