Packers Get Second Chance To Win A Game While Honoring Favre

Green Bay will honor the Ol' Gunslinger while wearing their throwback uniforms against the Cowboys this October.

The Green Bay Packers announced today that they will honor soon-to-be Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre at halftime of their October 16th game against the Dallas Cowboys.

From the team:

The Packers today announced several game features for the upcoming season, including a halftime ceremony on Oct. 16 to honor Brett Favre for his Aug. 6 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.

Favre, whose name will be unveiled on the Lambeau Field stadium façade next to fellow Pro Football Hall of Famers, will be recognized on the field at halftime of the Packers-Cowboys game.

At the same contest, the Packers will wear their historic third jersey, a re-creation of the team’s 1937-48 uniform that debuted as the third jersey during the 2015 season. The jersey, navy blue and gold with a gold yoke across the shoulders, pays tribute to a special time in Packers history in which the club won two of their record 13 NFL championships.

As fate would have it, this coincides with Throwback Weekend. And if that's not enough, Cheesehead TV co-founder Corey Behnke's 40th birthday party will be taking place in Green Bay the evening prior to the game.

Which is to say, even if you can't get a ticket to the game, you should be in Green Bay the weekend the Packers take on the Cowboys. It's going to be absurd.

Here's hoping the Packers actually win with Favre in the house this time around.

Didnt Farve and the Packers beat tbe cowboys at Lambeau something like 45-10, the first time they played there after years in Dallas? Can't remember exactly, guess I'm getting old. I do remember savoring it and recording it.

Yes they beat the 45 to 17 in 1997. Favre threw 4 TD's and Dorse the Horse ran for 190 yards. Man I'd love to watch that game on You Tube again!!

Thanks for reminding everyone just how badly they sucked on all three home divisional games. Cost the season. Ugh.

I mean. GPG! ;)

I'm a Happy boy. Or lets Bang the drum all day. You remember the music. You will always remember the #4. I really think the packers should honor Farve with their 4th historic jersey worn. Save the 3rd for the alumni.

Off Topic: Wow - salaries are heating up!

Kawaan Short wants $17M AAV in his new long term extension as a 4-3DT. Muhammad Wilkerson signed for 5 yrs, $86M ($17.2M AAV), with $53M guaranteed as a 3-4 DE. Von Miller got his money.

I am going to have to acclimate to the new realities of NFL salaries for non-QBs. Daniels' contract of 4yrs, $41M with $12M guaranteed is looking good. I grant that arguably Wilkerson and Short are better than Daniels, but if I were Daniels, I'd be looking askance at my agent, at least on the % guaranteed.

Off topic again: Blogging the Boys has again pieced together most of the Cowboys draft board. It is reasonably interesting.

Uggh. Dallas is the worst team to have to honor Favre. They owned Favre for most of his career. 2-9 against I think. I'm sure Aikman will be announcing that day. Dallas will be remembered as the dynasty through the 90s. The Packers will always be second best in the 90s for the NFC. Not a fan of the choice. Hopefully we cream them.....with Romo at the healm. 1) To put to bed the Dallas fans that think Dez had a catch. 2) Let Favre cherish a Dallas defeat. 3) EF Dallas.
(Note: It was a catch. Just not a catch the way the rules were written. NFL's problem.....not the Packer's)

" I'm sure Aikman will be announcing that day."

Something I dread every Sunday, it's a slap in all Packer fans faces imo, anyone else would be better.

Go Pack!!
