I know Bradford could go to PS at least I heard he could. If not that is the one surprise to me. We will see several of these on the PS squad in a few days.

The Bradford cut is a bit surprising.

Outside of Martinez, I'm worried about run support and pass coverage from our ILBs.

I'm more surprised about Price. If he gets to the PS, I guess that's fine. But he showed promise, and honestly, our DL sucks right now outside of Daniels.

LOL @ Minnesota. That idiotic trade just cost Spielman his job - he just doesn't know it yet.

PS EDIT: I see now you were talking about OUR Bradford - not the crappy new QB of the Vikings. Guess I've got a 1 track mind today, and my one track is laughing pretty hard at our now not-so-much-rivals to the west. :D :D :D

PPS: Yeah. Sucks for Carl. :( Hope he catches on somewhere.

Bradford didn't have the dimensions. Last year he didn't show his stuff and got pretty down on himself. We need players that stay upbeat, even under adversity.

No real surprises yet. Martinez or no. I still believe the interior of our front 7 is a serious weakness. I always hear the yammer about Barrington, but a very small sampling of modest productivity doesn't sway my opinion.

You didn't predict Callahan makes it on the 53.

You said Callahan was going to be better than Hundley if he gets the same chance to play.

There's an awfully big difference between the two, but enjoy the crickets you are hearing.

Everyone forgets about Clay Matthews. He is one of our best weapons against the run at his Outside linebacker spot. He can rush into the backfield and stop a play dead for -4. It's not like every run is going to be right up the middle. And even if opponents do run up the middle a majority of the time, I think the combination of Jones, Daniels, Guion, and all of our inside linebackers will do just fine.

Unless Beniquez Brown is making this team (which would be as shocking to me as anything), Packers are going with 3ILBs. Expect GB to bring back the Burnett as dime LB look we got a peek of early in camp. Or Matthews will see more snaps inside than they let on.

This is the most logical point currently, Al....Or they:

a) re-sign Barrington or Bradford after placing a player on the IR

b) have their eyes on another LB (trade or Free agent).

I don't understand or like cutting Sutton. We're letting him go and getting nothing back. Makes no sense to me unless they know another OG is being released from another team that they would rather have. Why mess around with your OL at this point in the season? Something not right about this. Thanks, Since '61

This is one of only two reasons such a move makes any sense. But, I am thinking perhaps, not. TT would obtain a high compensatory pick next year for Sitton if he was signed by somebody during FA. I just do not see TT letting that go by easily.

The only thing that make any sense to me is that they have a couple of big contract extensions now that they can complete (if they can clear some cap room). Does anybody know what room would be cleared THIS year, by letting Sitton go?

So everyone knows, I am having a real hard time accepting this. The future is NOW!! This year TT!

I want to preface the following by saying I'm shocked; I don't understand this move.

However...

We know TT's role is forward thinking. It's not like he made this decision in isolation either. Come off the ledge, guys. MM and his staff were also in on this process. They sell it one way publicly, but we all know the lack of transparency in this process. I'm inclined to think we saw Sitton with our green and gold colored glasses on, the little we actually saw.

I'm trying hard not to be a blind follower, but I trust those paid to do this more than ANY of us on this site...except Cow. He he he.

Still, it doesn't make sense to me.

Exactly what I was thinking Bedrock. At least one or more coaches went to Ted and said they don't want him on the team anymore.

Something is going on behind the scenes. Ted just doesn't wake-up and say "Well I think I'm just going to cut my three time All-Pro guard a week before the season"

I don't think the $'s were the consideration. Believe it or not $6.5 mil is not a lot for an All-Pro quality o-lineman.

Injuries - maybe, but I think he would have made it through the year playing at a high level.

This just doesn't make sense unless there's someone on the staff insisting they need to get rid of him.

Truly one of the most bizarre player moves I've seen in the TT era.

Regarding Callahan: either they thought he'd be claimed, or Hundley ankle not ready. My guess is that they just won the lottery with Callahan. Next year, they can showcase Hundley is preseason, trade him for a 2nd or 3rd, and make Callahan the backup.

I'd take the other choice... My guess is that they are only keeping Callahan because they think that Hundley's ankle isn't ready yet. I'm thinking that Callahan might lose his spot on the 53 when Pennell or others come off of suspension, assuming that Hundley's foot has recovered.

You could be right, of course. I'm not saying that he isn't worth developing, But if I'm the Packers, it's kind of two birds with one stone. Keeping him a few weeks protects against Hundley's bum ankle. More than that, it might be easier to retain Callahan's services if he's cut a few days or weeks from now, after most teams have already filled out their rosters and signed their initial practice squads.

I'm more disappointed in TT than his roster. To let an all-pro guard go - shows clouded judgement to me. I believe this roster only has to do with TV revenue, and how cheap TT can be. The stability of the team is shaky at best. The holder can throw Crosby off. The penalties from the offensive unit, could wipe out any gains. The drops by Drop Davante still will happen. And everyone will blame MM. TT is running it like a college team now. Maybe the packers organization needs to set term limits on the GM. Because I don't believe TT gives a damn about veterans or his actions anymore. The packer teams I grew up loving, were more like boy scouts. Have a beer after the game and pat each other on the butt. When is it OK to have players that take drugs,PEDs, and get suspended. Drugs meant LOSER! That a pay check and marketing... mean more than the ring or the fans. TT is using players up. TTs roster moves, recent bad picks, and no regard for veterans, could send the packers into a crash dive. You want to trust in Ted , but when he gets out, this team could be in the cellar with a No returns label. He'll only leave when people have had enough. Does TT have a conscious anymore? TTs only appeasing the fan's thirst for football. And his pocket book. And thats in the way of making the Packers Great Again!

Sometimes it seems that Thompson makes these decisions without first consulting the comment sections of fan sites; very odd.

Seriously though, how does this "appease his pocket book"? Are you suggesting that his compensation is somehow tied to the payroll? If that's the case, why doesn't GB always have the most cap space? They are usually in the middle, including now. New England, Kansas City, and Carolina all have more cap space. Are they doing that to save money, or are they well-managed, in your opinion?

TT does get paid by the club. He's not doing it for his health. The All-pros are leaving. If TT could part with Mathews, A-Rod, Cobb, and Nelson he do it. The spreading of the wealth will regress. The games against rivalries are no longer the priority. It's all about control now, and making money. (This is a franchise, they will meet their obligations first. )

So you really are suggesting that his compensation is tied to the payroll rather than success on the field. Interesting. Who are the other all-pros that are leaving? And didn't he just sign Cobb last year? That seems like an odd thing to do if keeping the payroll down was the priority, no?
