Packers Daily Links: Collins' Health Status Still Unknown

Nick Collins was supposed to his medical exam results on Monday, but no update has been given. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Mum is the word on Nick Collins. "Three days after his agent said the Green Bay Packers safety should learn the results of his latest medical exam by Monday, there was no indication if that happened and if it did, what the recommendation was," reports Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. As expected, there will be no immediate decision on Collins' future playing football. It's likely Collins will make a decision before the NFL Draft in late April, but Packers fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting for an update by the day.

The Packers aren't out of the running for free agent outside linebacker Dave Tollefson, according to Rob Demovsky. "Tollefson spent Thursday and Friday meeting with the Packers but left without a contract," writes Demovsky. "However, a source said this morning the Packers were still in the mix for his services." It could be a case very similar to Tony Hargrove where the Packers are trying to hammer out the details of a contract that would protect them in case of injury and have as minimal an effect on the salary cap as possible. Tollefson could still be weighing his options as well.

New Packer Tony Hargrove's former position coach, New Orleans Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson, spoke glowingly of Hargrove in an article at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I'm going to tell you something," Johnson told reporter Tyler Dunne. "If you don't like Anthony Hargrove, you have to check out of the human race. If you don't like this guy, you don't like anybody. He's a great guy, a good high-energy guy and I love him. I'm excited that he's up there in Green Bay. He'll bring something to the table." It perhaps seems odd that if the Saints had such a high opinion of Hargrove that they wouldn't be in the running to give him the veteran's minimum offered by the Packers this year or the Seahawks last year. Johnson said Hargrove's exit from New Orleans had to do with "agents and general managers."

Former Packers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher attended the bill-signing ceremony at Lambeau Field on Monday protecting Wisconsin's young athletes from returning to sports action after suffering a concussion. "The law and NFL policy help remove the stigma attached to a player receiving what might appear to be a minor injury not going back in to finish the game, said former Packers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher, who attended the ceremony," according to the Appleton Post-Crescent. Governor Scott Walker signed the bill into law.

More on the bill-signing appears at the Packers official website, including a photo gallery.

Former Packers Pro Bowler Aaron Kampman is beginning his return from back-to-back seasons lost to ACL tears with the Jacksonville Jaguars. "As the Jaguars began their offseason conditioning program Monday, Kampman is still not ready to participate fully in the offseason program and is rehabbing with trainer Mike Ryan," writes Vito Stellino of the St. Augustine Record. Kampman said he was encouraged by his progress.

Mississippi State defensive lineman Fletcher Cox was asked about the Packers interest in him at JSOnline.

Packer Report has articles on the wide receiver position, restricted free agency and draft prospect B.J. Coleman.

Some pass rush options in the draft are covered at the Press-Gazette.

A DVD of the Travel Channel's Man V Food Nation is being released, including a stop in Green Bay featuring former Packers defensive lineman Gilbert Brown.
