Packers Daily Links: Brett Favre, Snake Oil Salesman

The former Packers quarterback is pitching a product called Rx Pro. That and more in today's Daily Links...

An article by Don Walker in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel digs into a new pain cream called Rx Pro former Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been recently promoting, which comes across as rather sketchy. "Bus Cook, Favre's longtime agent and adviser, is involved as well," writes Walker. "Cook, Favre and (Byron) Barrett last month formed 3 B Medical Group LLC in Mississippi. Favre is an officer of the company, Barrett said, and Cook is the registered agent, according to online corporate records." In an interview, Favre's partner (Barrett) said he believed their product was FDA approved, when an FDA spokeswoman said she could find no evidence that it was. Favre has every right to enter into any business venture he chooses, but I wouldn't buy this product and I wouldn't expect it to work, at least any more than hundreds of other homeopathic remedies on the market.

With Desmond Bishop reportedly agreeing to a deal with the Vikings, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com speculates which position Bishop will play in Minnesota. "Bishop was at his best with the Packers as a 3-4 inside linebacker," writes Seifert. "So it's reasonable to project his best position in the Vikings' 4-3 to be middle linebacker, especially if you factor in the impact last year's torn hamstring muscle could have on his speed. But the Vikings spent their entire offseason working to transition Erin Henderson into that role, and coach Leslie Frazier sure didn't sound ready to end that experiment last week at mandatory minicamp." Some have wondered whether Bishop will play the weak-side role in the Vikes' 4-3 defense, but only time will tell.

More on Desmond Bishop comes from NFL.com, Packer Report, Fox Sports Wisconsin, Acme Packing Company, Green Bay Press-Gazette, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and ProFootballTalk.com.

In an interview published by Fox Sports Wisconsin, Packers defensive lineman B.J. Raji talked about his future with the Packers, which is notable considering he's scheduled to become a free agent at season's end. "I don't think I've played my best football, and that's the beauty of it," Raji is quoted as saying by reporter Paul Imig. "That's why I'm so excited about the future. I played some good ball in the past and I had some success, but I feel like my best ball is ahead of me." That's all well and good, but it's time to walk the walk in addition to talking the talk. Raji has been a good and reliable player when healthy, but some observers would like to see him play at his 2010 level more frequently.

Outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene had good things to say about Nick Perry in an interview published at ESPN.com on Monday. "He looks different," Greene is quoted as saying. "He moves different to me. He moves with more sense of urgency and purpose. His eyes are different. His gaze is different. I can just look at his face and look at in his eyes and know he's not happy with what transpired last year and he's determined not to let that happen again this year." Perry will be expected to be a starter and a major contributor on the Packers defense in 2013, so hopefully his development is up to snuff.

Signing first round draft choice Datone Jones should not be a worry, according to Acme Packing Company.

Defensive lineman Datone Jones is named the 15th most important Packer of 2013 by Fox Sports Wisconsin.

Packers Hall of Fame inductee Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila tells the Packers official website that defending the read-option wouldn't have bothered him.

The Xs and Os are broken down in looking at the Packers' base (Okie) 3-4 defense over at AllGreenBayPackers.com.

The safety position gets in-depth treatment at Lombardi Ave.

Articles on forcing fumbles and tight end Jermichael Finley appear at Packer Report.

I could see the Ol' Dong Slinger traveling throughout the old West on horseback, going from town to town, laying down the dong on the town folk, and leaving them some ointment to cure what ails 'em. Whataguy!

I am soooo ready to see two things. Perry be a force to reckon with ...and Datone tear people in half.

If he literally tears someone in half, I'll buy his jersey.

AR > #4 Example #57:

"itsaaron" versus "rx pro". Deanna is the only saving grace.

Wow. He made (before taxes) somewhere around $140 million over his career. You'd think he could just enjoy the comforts that kind of money can buy, invest some, tuck some away, and be retired in peace. Pitching medicine like this? Why?
