Packers Could Take A Look At Alternate Positions For Blake Sims

Mike McCarthy indicated the team is having conversations about moving the Alabama product.

When it was reported that the Packers would be bringing in Alabama's Blake Sims for a look on a tryout basis, some observers thought there was a chance the team may look at another position for the young signal-caller.

Turns out they may have been right.

Mike McCarthy admitted today in his post-practice press conference that there has indeed been some conversation in that regard.

As McCarthy states, nothing is set in stone and these are only preliminary conversations. The possibility clearly wouldn't be a surprise to Sims, as he caught passes at his pro day for NFL personnel people as well as threw them.

I, for one, hope the Packers give Sims every chance to succeed at the quarterback position. While he could be erratic at times in college, he has an intriguing set of skills that could enable him to be molded into a viable NFL backup quarterback.

We could have a guy play 3 or 4 positions I mean some of these guys seem to have real talent. Well a bit of kidding but really I like several of these new guys in camp.

Keep in mind Randal Cobb was a QB, too, as was future HOFer John Lynch (SS). You never know where the next superstar will come from.
