Packers Coaching in High School: Wisconsin Playoffs Start This Weekend

With former quarterback Randy Wright as offensive coordinator, Sturgeon Bay enters the playoffs with a game at Kiel at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Several former Green Bay Packers players now coach in the high school ranks. Here's a brief as the playoffs begin in Wisconsin...

  • Former linebacker Bryce Paup's Green Bay Southwest Trojans enter the playoffs coming off a 40-0 win over Bay Port. Southwest (7-2) hosts Fort Atkinson (7-2)  in the playoffs on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
  • With former fullback Dexter McNabb as athletics director and fullbacks coach, Pulaski (7-2) begins their playoff march coming off a 49-0 win over Green Bay west last week. Pulaski plays at home against West Bend East (4-5) at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Sturgeon Bay qualified for the playoffs with a 5-4 record with a 33-13 win over Mishicot last week but gets a tough playoff opener when they have to travel to 6-3 Kiel at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Former quarterback Randy Wright is the offensive coordinator at Sturgeon Bay.
  • Waukesha West, where former tight end Mark Chmura is an assistant coach, remains undefeated (9-0) after a 58-21 win over Waukesha North last week. West enters the playoffs with a home game against Janesville Parker (6-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
  • Following a 55-22 win over St. Edward last week, former wide receiver Don Beebe wraps up the regular season with Aurora Christian (7-1) by hosting Aurora Catholic Central tonight at 7 p.m.
  • Under former quarterback Ty Detmer, St. Andrews Episcopal in Austin, Texas dropped to 2-6 this season after a 38-14 loss to Fort Worth Country Day last week. Tonight they play at Trinity Valley–Fort Worth at 7:30 p.m.
  • Flint Northwester in Michigan fell to 2-6 on the season after losing to Nouvel Catholic Central 39-12 last week. With former wide receiver Andre Rison as head coach, they wrap up the regular season at Detroit Country Day at 1 p.m. local time on Saturday.
  • St. Vincent-St. Mary of Akron, Ohio (7-1) suffered their first loss of the season last week after falling to Mooney 41-21. With former safety Mark Murphy as an assistant coach, they return to action by hosting Buchtel at 7 p.m. tonight.
  • Skyline High School in Front Royal, Virginia, where former linebacker Ben Taylor is an assistant coach, dropped to 3-4 on the season after a 35-25 loss to Washington last week. They aim to get back to .500 tomorrow with a game at Handley at 1 p.m.
