Packers Calendar: Woodson Speaking at Obama Campaign Stop

Charles Woodson will speak at a campaign stop for President Obama on Thursday morning at Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay.

The Packers return to the practice field on Thursday in preparation for their upcoming game on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the big news is that cornerback Charles Woodson will be speaking at a campaign event for President Barack Obama, according to Michelle Tuckner of WBAY-TV in Green Bay via Twitter.

Not many details are available, but the event will be held in the morning at Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay, and the public will be allowed to enter at 8:30 a.m. local time, reports the Green Bay Press-Gazette. This campaign stop is being held just days before the general election, which will occur on Tuesday Nov. 6.

Woodson has several ties to Obama in the past with the President receiving a Woodson jersey in January of 2011 after Obama declined to attend Super Bowl XLV when the Packers eliminated his Chicago Bears from the playoffs. Woodson later presented Obama with a share of stock in the Packers when the team visited the White House as Super Bowl champions in August of 2011, and then Woodson was a guest at the White House Correspondents' Dinner this past April.

In the afternoon, the official website of the Packers will be streaming a Google+ hangout with wide receiver Jordy Nelson. The social media face-to-face chat will take place at 3 p.m.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will hold a press conference on Thursday, but it will not be streamed live on the team's website. Typically, it is posted later on Packers.com for on-demand viewing.

The Packers are required by the NFL to submit an injury report on Thursday, which will be made available online later in the day. There's a lot of players to keep an eye on, including those that didn't practice on Tuesday like John Kuhn, Nick Perry, Sam Shields, Jerel Worthy and Mike Neal. McCarthy already ackowledged that Nelson wouldn't practice until Friday at the earliest, if then.

McCarthy will also make his weekly appearance on satellite radio's SiriusXM NFL Radio on channel 88, which can be heard live at 10:45 a.m. Central time.

In the evening, the weekly television program Inside Lambeau will air on the local NBC affiliate, WGBA Ch. 26, at 6:30 p.m. The show is hosted by Wayne Larrivee, the radio voice of the Green Bay Packers, and Greg Matzek, the host of Packers OT on the Packers Radio Network. A list show times on other regional affiliates can be found here.

Over on the radio dial, 1 on 1 With The Boys can be heard at 5 p.m. on 101.FM WIXX in Green Bay and streamed live on the station's website. Wide receiver James Jones joins Murphy and Maino in the afternoon to talk some Packers football.

If Paul Ryan was running for president I would vote for him but I am voting for Obama.

I think it would be funny if Paul Ryan and Ron Paul were running against each other on the ballot. Can you imagine the confusion?

We have a team we love that is in a union, collectively owned, Non-profit (profits go back into team- not to owner), and one of the most successful organizations around.

This is why I love the team so much- my personal beliefs and a sports team mash together.
