Packers Calendar: Welcoming Dinner for Rookies

The Packers will host rookies for a welcoming dinner on Thursday evening before orientation camp begins on Friday.

Rookie players will be traveling to Green Bay today whether they're draft picks, undrafted free agents or tryout players.

They're coming to town to participate in the Packers' rookie orientation camp this weekend that lasts from Friday through Sunday.

But before any practices and meetings take place, the rookies will be treated to a welcoming dinner on Thursday evening, according to Mike Spofford of the Packers official website.

There's a good chance several draft choices will sign their contracts today too.

It's early and anything can happen but as of now Vegas oddsmakers think highly of the Packers. They are favored in all of the 15 games the oddsmakers have handicapped. Through their week 10 bye the Packers are favored by at least 6 points except for @ Houston (1.5). After the break is the tougher part of their schedule but they're at least 3 point favorites in all remaining games.

W/ this much confidence there's every reason to think the Packers will go 19-0, out scoring their opponents 1,306 to minus 13.

Holy crap, they're handicapping the Packers as favorites even against the Giants.

I was waiting till we crushed the 9ers to start the 19-0 talk, but since we're on the subject, I don't see why not. They'll be even hungrier than they were last year, the D, on paper, is much improved, and the schedule, on paper, isn't the most dificult.

The 2 games where I see the Packers losing is @ NY and @ HOU, but even then I believe we have great chances of winning.

But it's way too early to start placing bets. Vegas will have to wait a little bit. Right now, it's almost as good as shooting blindfolded. Plus there's not a great value in there. Maybe @ IND, betting now before it gets double-digit... Playing against a rebuilding team, with a rookie QB, indoors, seems like a nice combination.

I just thought of a new reality show "Playing with the Pros.". In this show, the teams line up and play a regular game. Then fans call in to vote which team was better. Cool huh?
