Packers Calendar: Thanksgiving Day Practice

Head coach Mike McCarthy will hold a press conference streamed online Thursday afternoon.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers from everyone here at Cheesehead TV. This holiday was made for football fans. Enjoy the company of friends and family, eat well, give thanks and relish in watching copious amounts of pigskin.

With an important upcoming match-up with the New England Patriots coming on Sunday, preparations for the Green Bay Packers won't stop just because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

They will, however, compress their usual practice schedule, allowing team employees to celebrate the holiday in the afternoon.

"With Thanksgiving, we've always thought that it's important for the players, support staff and coaches to be with their families, and that will definitely be the case Thursday," said head coach Mike McCarthy. "We'll move everything up, and we'll get our work done in the morning, and everybody will be home by 1:00."

The health of one player will be of particular attention on Thursday, and that's offensive lineman T.J. Lang, who briefly exited the game this past Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, needing to get his sprained ankle wrapped.

After not practicing on Wednesday, it will be worth watching whether Lang will be able to mimic his practice schedule for the previous two weeks when he wouldn't practice on Wednesday but would take part in a limited basis on Thursday.

"T.J., probably further ahead than the past, but we'll see how he is (Thursday)," said McCarthy. "Workload for the week will probably be similar to maybe less than the past couple weeks."

The status of two more players will also be notable. Neither linebacker Nick Perry nor cornerback Jarrett Bush practiced on Wednesday, so it remains to be seen whether they'll be able to return in time for Thursday's practice session.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will hold his usual Thursday press conference earlier than normal, streamed online at 12:15 p.m. CT on Packers.com.
