Packers Calendar: Skill-Position Players Work Out at NFL Combine
Quartebacks, running backs and wide receivers can be seen at 8:00 a.m. CT on the NFL Network.
INDIANAPOLIS—The NFL changed the NFL Combine schedule in 2015, moving everything up a day so workouts would be held Friday through Monday unlike Saturday through Tuesday in previous years.
It's a minor change, but one believed to be made so that the skill-position players—in other words, the fantasy-football players—would go through their workout on a Saturday when they would get a large viewing audience, a day when a lot of people don't have work or school and can sit in front of the television and see the sport's future stars.
Quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers will take to the field at Lucas Oil Stadium starting at 8:00 a.m. CT on the NFL Network when they'll do measured drills such as the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and shuttles, as well as position-specific drill like passing and catching the football.
Defensive front seven players—defensive linemen and linebackers—won't do any on-field work, but they will do the bench press on Saturday, along with psychological testing like the Wonderlic and interviewing with NFL teams.
Meanwhile, defensive backs will go through weigh-ins as well as do their medical examinations, meet with the media and go through interviews.
The Green Bay Packers will be busy watching and interviewing all groups in Indianapolis except for the offensive linemen, tight ends and specialists, whose time at the Combine has already come to a close.
