Packers Calendar: Pro Day Schedule Kicks Off

Purdue and UTEP are the first two universities to hold their pro day workouts on the 2013 schedule.

The first two pro day workouts of 2013 take place on Friday at Purdue and Texas-El Paso.

Among the more highly regarded prospects from those two schools is 6-3, 299 lb. Purdue defensive lineman Kawaan Short who's viewed as potentially a top five player at his position and a possible late first round draft choice.

An injury prevented Short from working out at the NFL Combine and apparently he won't be working out at today's Purdue pro day.

"A hamstring injury will keep the star Boilermaker shelved for the immediate future, but Short will hold a personal workout for teams at the Purdue campus on March 25," reports Gil Brandt of NFL.com. "Short is expected to go in the first two rounds of the draft."

The only other Purdue player invited to the Combine was cornerback Josh Johnson but as a player who stands only 5-9, the Packers may not have that much interest.

The top prospect at UTEP could be center Eloy Atkinson who was an honorable mention all-conference selection as a senior, but NFLDraftScout.com only has him rated as the 39th best center in this year's Draft class.
