Packers Calendar: McCarthy, Thompson to Speak at NFL Combine

Thompson will appear at 9:00 a.m. CT on Thursday, McCarthy at 2:00 p.m. in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS—It's Green Bay Packers Day at the NFL Combine on Thursday.

Both general manager Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy will meet the assembled media at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy.

Thompson will speak at 9:00 a.m. CT, followed by McCarthy at 2:00 p.m. Their press conferences will be streamed live on Packers.com as well as the league's NFL Now mobile app and streaming platforms.

Both interviews will be wide-ranging, but for Thompson, it will be a free agency preview of sorts.

The Packers general manager has not met a congregated media in months and probably won't again before the start of free agency on Mach 10.

Predictably, there will be questions about two of the Packers priorities in free agency—wide receiver Randall Cobb and offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga.

But there's also plenty of other pending free agents, notably at the cornerback and nose tackle positions, as well as players like quarterback Scott Tolzien and fullback John Kuhn.

For McCarthy, it's a chance to pick his brain on the talent he has at his disposal.

There are some players not heard from in months, such as those whose season ended on injured reserve like defensive lineman B.J. Raji and wide receiver Jared Abbrederis.

Then there are those who more or less "redshirted" in 2014 like linebacker Carl Bradford and wide receiver Jeff Janis. The Packers head coach can give an update on all their progress.

As for the prospects, defensive linemen and linebackers arrive in Indianapolis on Thursday.

The Day 1 arrivals—tight ends, offensive linemen and specialists—they'll do the bench press, meet with the player's union and take their psychological testing, including the famed Wonderlic. Specialists will also hold their workout, the first of all on-field drills.

Meanwhile, the Day 2 arrivals—quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers—they'll have their weigh-ins, medical examinations and meet with the media.

The Packers and all NFL teams will also be conducting interviews with individual players at night.
