Packers Calendar: Jennings Makes Potentially Last Public Appearance as a Packer

Jennings will be doing a speaking engagement in his hometown of Kalamazoo, Mich. on Friday evening, the day before he can negotiate a contract with other NFL teams.

Technically Greg Jennings is still under contract with the Green Bay Packers, for a few more days at least. His contract expires on March 12, but he'll be making one more public appearance while still a member of the green and gold.

Jennings will be doing an interactive "Be Great" session with families at the Kalamazoo Home Expo on Friday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kalamazoo is located in mainland Michigan and is Jennings' hometown.

"It complements Jennings' Be Great Youth Initiative, which promotes literacy, random acts of kindness, healthy lifestyles and college readiness," writes Al Jones of MLive.com. "It also promotes high quality, learning-centered, after-school programming."

Tickets are required to attend the event and cost $2 in addition to the $8 in-advance admission price to the Expo or $10 at the door. The first 100 children will receive a Jennings' signed football.

Friday's event just so happens to come on the eve of the date NFL teams are allowed to enter into contract negotiations with agents of players who are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.

At midnight a three-day window opens in which Jennings' agent will be able to talk to other NFL teams about a potential contract, although no deal can be signed until March 12. There are speculated to be several suitors, including the division rival Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins where former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin is the head coach.
