Packers Calendar: Jennings Leaves for Africa

Wide receiver Greg Jennings and his wife Nicole are leaving for Africa on a 10-day humanitarian mission.

Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings and his wife Nicole are leaving on Monday for a 10-day trip to Africa on a humanitarian mission.

Jennings will also be accompanied by roughly a dozen other professional athletes including Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

His first stop will be in Tanzania where he'll be working for the Starkey Hearing Foundation by testing and fitting children with hearing problems for hearing aids.

“To put a hearing aid in a kid’s ear when they haven’t been able to audibly connect or relate or have dialogue with their parents or siblings or whomever … and then clap a couple of times and see them jump and their face light up because they heard you … it’s all to change a life,” Jennings told the Packers official website. “That’s what it’s all about.”

After Tanzania, Jennings will also travel to Kenya and Ethiopia for work with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

"The USAID part of the trip will involve health, wellness and fitness work, Jennings said, helping to feed people as well as teaching youth and adults how to lead healthier lifestyles," according to Packers.com.
