Packers Calendar: Eddie Lacy Concussion Update Forthcoming

Head coach Mike McCarthy will have an update on Lacy at approximately 1:10 p.m. during his Wednesday press conference, streamed at Packers.com.

The Green Bay Packers return to the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for their upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and after practice will come an update on concussed Packers running back Eddie Lacy.

Lacy took a blow to the head this past Sunday on a hit from Washington safety Brandon Merriweather, which forced him to leave the game in the first quarter.

As of Monday, head coach Mike McCarthy did not have a status report on Lacy, saying that the organization would give an update on Wednesday. McCarthy will have his press conference streamed live on the team's official website at Packers.com at approximately 1:10 p.m. CT.

Also of particular attention will be the health of fullback John Kuhn, who suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's victory against Washington. If the Packers were not to have the services of Kuhn and Lacy, they would be left very thin in the offensive backfield.

Only James Starks and Johnathan Franklin are the other true running backs on the roster, and Franklin hasn't had so much as a single regular-season carry. Randall Cobb has lined up at running back on occasion, however, and Jeremy Ross has done so in a practice setting.

Just as it's been the previous two weeks, defensive backs Morgan Burnett and Casey Hayward will continue to be monitored. Both have missed the first two games of the season with hamstring injuries.

In the evening, tight end Jermichael Finley will host the weekly J-Mike and M.D. Show from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on The Fan 107.5 FM and 1400 AM in Green Bay from Thornberry Creek golf course in Oneida, where the show is broadcasted.

The show can be streamed online at TheFan1075.com.

Wouldn't mind letting Starks give Lacy a couple extra weeks to make sure the noggin is totally healed up.

I read a report this am that he is out through week 5 at least. Do not know where that came from but that's what they are saying.
He took a real hard hit to the head that's for sure.

What you're reading is not a report at all, merely a reporting saying Lacy "may" be out until Week 5. Nothing is official yet, although that could certainly be the case. We'll find out later today.

Can someone please explain how not only wasn't that hit flagged, but also neither has Merriweather been fined? All fines from last weekend's games seem to have been handed out. If you were the Packer front office wouldn't you be on the phone with Goodell about this? That was one of the most blatant and egregious head shots I have seen, and also one of the most devastating. I keep expecting to hear that Lacy's neck is broken. Yes it was that bad. I'm so angry man. We don't need to lose another player like that. What am I missing? I don't know anything about how the league functions as to whether the team can send a complaint to the league, but damn sometimes you have to step for your players. It would be funny to see McCarthy get fined for calling out the league's lack of action! I just find it so pathetic after the NFL just settled the law suit and is putting on this public face of 'safety first'. I'm not seeing much anger from Pack fans here. Just wait until you hear how Lacy's doing. Maybe that will fuel the fire. If he's OK the only positive I can take is that he is an OX! That hit would have killed a normal human, except for Keith Richards.

Fines aren't announced by the league until Friday, so unless Meriweather told someone, you wouldn't hear until then.

Adam Schefter reported that Merriweather would be fined but not suspended.

Goldson already received a 100K fine, and off the top of my head I cant remember the other. It as against Texan's receiver. So not to be a jerk, but it is incorrect to say fines aren't dished out until Friday. Just look at NFL.com. In fact Goldson has already had his suspension appealed. Why did the NFL move through that process so fast, but not a whisper about Lacy???

It's not just that. Wasn't there some bullshit that because Meriweather hurt himself on the Starks hit, it wasn't even considered in any possible fine/suspension?

Clay, Goldson chose to reveal his fine and appeal prior to Friday. That was his choice though. Last week, however, CM3's fine wasn't announced until Friday.

OK Packsmack word up. Thanks for the education. I def didn't know that's how it works.

I'll look forward to Merriweather reading his fine notice while he is cross-eyed and drooling in his Gerber food!

(not that I hold grudges or anything)

Oh, I didn't realize that Goldson had originally been suspended. That's why it was announced, because those are announced on Mondays and Tuesdays.

"THROUGH week five AT LEAST","He took a real hard hit, that's for sure" - Absolutely just stirring the pot with, upon your own admission, no source to speak of. Eddie Lacy had a undiagnosed concussion against Georgia 2 years ago and came back in the next series. That aside, He held onto the ball, stood up on his own, and didn't want to come out of the game. Surely, he was concussed. But, it wasn't like the concussions James Harrison has handed out where the guys' arms do the "chicken wing".

I thought it looked like Lacy blacked out for a second. He seemed to stiffen up for a split second when he hit the ground. And he was wobbly when he got up. It looked rough. Top of the helmet right in his ear hole.
