Packers Calendar: Curly Lambeau Honored by Pro Football Hall of Fame

A ceremony will be held Thursday at Green Bay East High School recognizing Curly Lambeau's hometown roots.

At a ceremony being held at 9:30 a.m. CT at Green Bay East High School, Earl "Curly" Lambeau will be recognized as a "Hometown Hall of Famer," a national program honoring the hometown roots of football’s greatest coaches, players, and contributors with special ceremonies and plaque dedication events in local communities.

“’Hometown Hall of Famers’ has been warmly embraced by communities and Hall of Famers alike,” said George Veras, Pro Football Hall of Fame Enterprises president and CEO. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Allstate to bring the Pro Football Hall of Fame to communities across the country and congratulate Curly Lambeau and Green Bay East High School on bringing a piece of the Pro Football Hall of Fame to Green Bay.”

As a legendary NFL coach and former standout athlete at Green Bay East High School, the legacy of Curly Lambeau will be recognized at East High School, where the plaque will live permanently to serve as an inspiration for the school’s students and athletes. The presentation will be made by John Lambeau, grandson of the late Curly Lambeau.

The ceremony will be attended by Green Bay East High School students, faculty, staff, alumni and Lambeau’s family members. Ed Dorff, principal of Green Bay East High School, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

In addition to the plaque, a commemorative Curly Lambeau “Hometown Hall of Famers” road sign will be on display in Green Bay.

John Lambeau previewed the event and spoke about his grandfather in an interview Wednesday on Cheesehead TV's Railbird Central.
