Packers Add RB Rajion Neal, LB Joe Thomas to Practice Squad

The Green Bay Packers added a pair of previously injured players to their practice squad that were with them during training camp by signing running back Rajion Neal and linebacker Joe Thomas.

In order to make room for them, the Packers released defensive lineman Joe Kruger and tight end Ike Ariguzo.

Both Neal and Thomas suffered knee injuries in the Packers' second preseason game at the Tennessee Titans.

Neal played a mere 11 snaps before injury, carrying the football five times for 39 yards (7.8 ypc) and a touchdown, along with one kickoff return for 22 yards.

Thomas played just four snaps before injury, making one tackle.

Both players were released at the end of training camp with injury settlements, not eligible to be signed until after Week 8 of the season, perhaps signaling the high regard the team has for Neal and Thomas, signing them so soon after their settlements elapsed.

Nether Kruger or Ariguzo were with the Packers for long. Kruger was added Oct. 7, Ariguzo on Oct. 14. Kruger is the brother of Cleveland Browns linebacker Paul Kruger.

Also on Monday, the Miami Dolphins signed former Packers tight end Jake Stoneburner to their practice squad.

"an incredible playmaker at inside linebacker. He finished his senior season as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year after recording 115 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and one interception."
Inside help is needed. Nobody can no longer deny.

Neal is a very fast change of pace back, and Thomas is fast as well. Good to see the guys back with the Packers. Hopefully these guys can pick up and be added to the 53. Let Jones Brad Jones is one spot that can be accounted for.

I love these signings.
I think both players had a shot at making the 53 until they got hurt.

By the end of the year, I think at least one of these 2 will find their way onto the 53.

I was high on both of these guys. I agree that it is entirely possible, even probable, that both of these players get on the 53 man roster at some point. It wouldn't surprise me if Neal gets some carries in a game at some point, though it might be garbage time.
