Packers 46-Man Roster Prediction for Week 5 vs. Vikings
Wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has been ruled out of Thursday's game with a groin injury.
Here's our best guess at predicting the Green Bay Packers' game-day roster for Thursday's Week 5 match-up against the Minnesota Vikings. Reminder, only 46 players can be active.
The entire roster is included. Those bold and italicized are predicted to be inactive...
Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien
Running Back: Eddie Lacy, John Kuhn, James Starks, DuJuan Harris
Wide Receiver: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin, Davante Adams, Jeff Janis
Tight End: Richard Rodgers, Andrew Quarless, Brandon Bostick, Ryan Taylor
Offensive Line: David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, Corey Linsley, T.J. Lang, Bryan Bulaga, Derek Sherrod, Lane Taylor, Garth Gerhart
Defensive Line: Mike Daniels, Datone Jones, Letroy Guion, Josh Boyd, Mike Pennel
Outside Linebackers: Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, Mike Neal, Nick Perry, Jayrone Elliott
Inside Linebackers: A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones, Jamari Lattimore, Sam Barrington, Carl Bradford
Cornerbacks: Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, Davon House, Casey Hayward, Jarrett Bush, Demetri Goodson
Safeties: Morgan Burnett, Micah Hyde, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Sean Richardson
Specialists: Mason Crosby, Tim Masthay, Brett Goode
Notes:
- Jarrett Boykin (groin) has already been ruled out for Thursday's game.
- Josh Boyd (knee) and Sam Barrington (hamstring) are both listed as doubtful and neither are predicted to play.
- Clay Matthews (groin), Mike Neal (hip), Brad Jones (quad) and T.J. Lang (non-injury related) are all listed as probable and all are predicted to play.
- With only 52 players currently on their roster, the Packers only have to have six players inactive, assuming they don't make any transactions before Thursday's game.
- Jones is predicted to play for the first time since the season opener at Seattle, which is good timing seeing as the depth at inside linebacker is being tested with the injury to Barrington.
- It would appear one roster spot is coming down to Garth Gerhart, Carl Bradford or Demetri Goodson. It is predicted Bradford gets the nod due to the help he can offer special teams. If active, it would be the first time in Bradford's young career.
- Gerhart was active for the first three games of the season but was inactive last week against the Bears. Being active may depend on how the Packers feel about their depth along the offensive line and the center position in particular.
- Neither Goodson nor Tolzien have been active for a game yet this season.

Bridgewater limited today and officially "questionable."
Not sure what I prefer - Ponder or a hobbled Bridgewater. Probably doesn't matter - the Vikes QB will not determine this game.

This should be a cakewalk but with the bizarre way we start games lately who knows.

I was stunned at Teddy B's poise throughout pre-season and last week. He was almost a dead ringer in taking charge and managing the game as Wilson was in Seattle.
There would be a huge diff between him starting and Ponder. Unless his ankle is really sore, this game is too important for Teddy to not be in.
I say defense will determine this game over offense, regardless of Rogers and Bridgewater.

Has Jeff Janis been active this year? Has he had any offensive snaps? Any work on specials?

Read that Janis had one snap at the Bears game, but was not targeted.
