Packers 46-Man Roster Prediction for NFC Championship vs. Seahawks

Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy and Josh Sitton are all listed as "probable" on the team's injury report, indicating they'll almost assuredly play on Sunday.

Here's our best guess at predicting the Green Bay Packers' gameday roster for Sunday's NFC Championship match-up against the Seattle Seahawks. Reminder, only 46 players can be active.

The entire roster is included. Those bold and italicized are predicted to be inactive...

Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien

Running Back: Eddie Lacy, John Kuhn, James Starks, DuJuan Harris

Wide Receiver: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin, Davante Adams, Jeff Janis

Tight End: Richard Rodgers, Andrew Quarless, Brandon Bostick, Justin Perillo

Offensive Line: David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, Corey Linsley, T.J. Lang, Bryan Bulaga, J.C. Tretter, Lane Taylor, Garth Gerhart

Defensive Line: Mike Daniels, Datone Jones, Letroy Guion, Josh Boyd, Mike Pennel, Bruce Gaston

Outside Linebackers: Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, Mike Neal, Nick Perry, Jayrone Elliott

Inside Linebackers: A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones, Sam Barrington, Carl Bradford

Cornerbacks: Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, Davon House, Casey Hayward, Jarrett Bush, Demetri Goodson

Safeties: Morgan Burnett, Micah Hyde, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Sean Richardson, Chris Banjo

Specialists: Mason Crosby, Tim Masthay, Brett Goode

Notes:

  • Aaron Rodgers (calf), Eddie Lacy (knee), Josh Sitton (toe) and Josh Boyd (knee) are all listed as probable on the Packers injury report, and all are predicted to play in the NFC Championship game.
  • It would appear the Packers will be going with the exact same inactive list they've gone with the past two games, the same one predicted here.
  • As long as Rodgers remains limited by his calf injury (and perhaps even if he's not limited), the Packers appear inclined to keep Scott Tolzien active on game days.
  • If a Packers player were to suffer some sort of unforeseen injury before the game, they would seem likely to activate either Demetri Goodson or DuJuan Harris for help primarily on special teams.
  • Carl Bradford remains the only player on the roster that hasn't been active for a game this season.

Again, I love looking at this list and seeing no surprises! I love that this consistency has been here nearly all season long.

Wait, you're not of the belief that we've been saving Janis for the playoffs?

Better type it... joking!

Nah... I'm sure the majority of the fanbase is over that. What they've been planning the whole time was to save Bradford for this game! He was a sack master at Arizona St...

Actually ...... I was thinking now that Cobb in the backfield seems to be getting Seattle's attention, that Janis lining up at WR and flashing on a jet sweep (or even faking it) and on some reverse action might work. Boykin has not done much and he is the type of big body their physical DB's will simply jam at the line and hold up, I don't see him doing much other than forcing them to put a man, any man, on him. A slighter quicker janis might be able to avoid some of the bumping/holding at the line, or at least be able to force them to grab more to keep up with his speed and draw a penalty. Maybe use him on KOR but not on PR. Last pre-coffee thought, Edelman ruined the surprise league-wide, but I was believing we would see Cobb throw in the playoffs. I think Seattle will be watching for this now.

Sure wish there were progress reports on Carl Bradford and Demetri Goodson. They both made the 53 man roster but are always inactive. Bradford,a 4th Rd. pick had 20 sacks in his last 2 years of school. I remember Tony Pauline saying he played like his hair was on fire. Also 3 guys on IR that you never hear how they are doing are 3rd.Rd. pick Khyri Thornton and vets Don Barclay and Nate Palmer. I think it would be a great read on how these 5 guys are progressing and still believe most have a bright NFL future. Including last but not least Jared Abbrederis.

I will be saying my prayers that this is the week the Packers decide Brad Jones is no longer on the preferred 46 man gameday roster.

I'd prefer he'd be cut and someone promoted from the PS. But I'm not expecting miracles. Just a little common sense based on empirical evidence.

I don't mind if brad jones is active playing special teams because he is pretty fast for a linebacker, I just hope he plays the same number of defensive snaps tomorrow as I do.

Unfortunately, the issue is moot. The Packers decided that Brad Jones is a a big enough "help" to be activated.

I generally give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt on that sort of thing but not this time.

And Jones makes me look stoopid by forcing fumble on kick coverage.

I've looked stoopid plenty before but don't remember being so happy about it.
