Obviously, Ted Thompson Reads CHTV

No, no announcement of a Jennings extension. But there IS word from Packer Report (sorry, sub required) that Kevin Carter's agent, Harold Lewis, and the Packers' Director of Pro Personnel Reggie McKenzie have been keeping in touch and that their is still definite interest on both sides. (As regular readers know, I've been calling for the signing of Carter since the beginning of Free Agency)

Come on Ted, pull the trigger. :)

On a side note, kudos to Packer Report's Bill Huber for getting the exclusive from Carter's agent. I met Bill at Fan Fest and he was incredibly gracious and even went so far as to admit that he'd heard of Cheesehead TV. I was on Cloud Nine...

Of course there's interest. GB does their due diligence in these situations. They talk and discuss just like the LBs available when free agency initially kicked off. They talk, discuss, and feel each other out. Of course 75% of the time the player gets overpaid and goes elsewhere(can't blame them really).

I realize that. Just like the fact they're still talking. ;)

If n it were me - I'd re-sign Vonnie Holliday, as he is two years younger than Carter. That alone makes it the smarter move.
Plus, I've read in several other places that Carter is definitely on the down side of his career. I must admit I have never paid much attention to Kevin Carter. But, like most of you, I do know a certain player by the name of Vonnie Holliday.
Besides, wouldn't be somewhat righteous to see ol' Vonnie retiring as a Packer? C'mon, admit it - it has a ring to it.

I'm not so sure that I agree with this:

I just don't see how signing Holliday would be a better signing just because he is two years younger.

That being said, I think I would prefer Vonnie as well. If memory serves, didn't he used to slide inside and play some DT as well? Might be nice to have someone who could also play DT in the 4-3 when the team shows that look. Versatility is always nice.
