Newest Packer, Sampson Genus

The Packers will reportedly be signing South Florida center Sampson Genus.

According to Shane Hallam of DraftCountdown.com, the Packers will be signing South Florida center Sampson Genus.

Genus was a first-team Big East all-conference selection as a senior and second-team as a junior.

Whereas some of the players he'll be competing for a roster spot with could swing from center to guard like Nick McDonald and Evan Dietrich-Smith, Genus would appear to be a center first and foremost.

On one hand, that could work in his favor if a guy like Scott Wells were to suffer an injury, but he may or may not have quite the versatility other offensive linemen provide.

A source told me the Packers attended South Florida's pro day workout back in March.

Football is back!!! Football is back!!! football is back!!!
Its like being a kid on Christmas morning again!!

Its interesting we've already heard of the 2 safeties being snatched up right away... Guess the Pack ain't too high on Anthony Levine, Michael Greco, or Anthony Smith supposedly re-signing?? Hmmm

Do you guys think that Mcdonalds future is at Center? I kinda see it that way, not at gaurd, although flexible.

The hope is McDonald is the successor to Wells, but they'll probably swing him around the interior during camp and see how he fits.
