Nagler's Never Right: NFL 2014 Season Week 14

Aaron's NFL picks for Week 14.

Last Week: 9-7

Season: 116-76-1

Dallas vs Chicago

I picked...poorly.

Baltimore vs Miami

The Ravens need to get over the gut-punch that was the end of the Chargers game. Miami’s defense will present an incredibly tough test for Flacco and company. Ryan Tannehill lucks out in not having to worry about Haloti Ngata due to the defensive tackle’s suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. This will be a tough-fought, low-scoring affair. Expect the Dolphins to squeak out the victory.

Carolina vs New Orleans

I can’t believe I picked the Panthers to win last week. That is a poorly coached team bereft of talent. The Saints most assuredly have their own issues, but they should win comfortably here.

Tampa Bay vs Detroit

Detroit makes it two in a row by taking down the Bucs. This game will most likely be closer than most Detroit fans would like, but their team should still get the win.

New York Jets vs Minnesota

The Jets basically played without a quarterback against the Dolphins last week...and almost won. In the end though, when they needed a drive and needed Geno to deliver, he just couldn’t do it. Not that it’s all his fault. Minnesota is having the growing pains you’d expect with a rookie quarterback, but Bridgewater is playing well enough to help beat this Jets team.

St. Louis vs Washington

Colt McCoy, RGIII, does it really matter? The Rams’ pass rush will make life miserable for whoever is under center for Washington. Rams get the win.

Indianapolis vs Cleveland

The Browns stick with Hoyer, despite seemingly the entire football-watching world calling for Manziel. The Colts will score points. Can the Browns keep up? Doubtful. The Colts get the win.

Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati

The Steelers couldn’t overcome a bad game from Big Ben last week and they won’t be able to this week either. The Bengals’ defensive front is playing well and Andy Dalton will do just enough in this one not to destroy the Bengals’ chances of winning it.

Houston vs Jacksonville

JJ Watt is a legitimate contender for the league’s MVP award. He should have ample opportunity to add to his resume against a porous Jaguars offensive line. The Texans get the divisional road win.

New York Giants vs Tennessee

What a disaster of a season for the Giants. While all the talk seems to be centered on whether Tom Coughlin will keep his job, the guy whose job should be on the line is Jerry Reese. The cupboard is embarrassingly bare of talent. The Titans, meanwhile, have a bit of talent on the defensive side of the ball and are downright hard to watch on offense. This will be an ugly game that the Titans win.

Kansas City vs Arizona

The Cardinals are having all sorts of problems on offense, they can’t run the ball, Drew Stanton can’t read the blitz and Andre Ellington has been declared Out for the game. The Chiefs aren’t exactly dynamic on the offensive side of the ball either, and the Cardinals’ front should handle their running game. It won’t be an offensive explosion, but the Cardinals get the win.

Buffalo vs Denver

This will be a great game that the Broncos win. Just not enough firepower on offense for the Bills.

Seattle vs Philadelphia

Chip Kelly vs the Seahawks defense. That’s the headliner, and it will be worth the price of admission. Look for Darren Sproles to be the X Factor. The Seahawks will beat up the Eagles, but Philadelphia will get the win.

San Francisco vs Oakland

Two teams coming off embarrassing losses. Two teams that will undoubtedly be playing for different coaches next year. San Francisco should win a low-scoring affair.

New England vs San Diego

What a great matchup. Look for Ryan Matthews to get the ball early and often. The Patriots should also lean on their running game, but who ever knows with McDaniels, who tends to get cute for no reason. I think the Patriots are the better team and get the win, but this is going to be a great game that could go either way.

Atlanta vs Green Bay

The Packers, as crazy as it sounds, should play some smash mouth football and grind their way to victory. The Falcons aren’t a powerhouse, but Matt Ryan can direct an up-tempo offensive attack that could give the Packers’ defense problems. I don’t expect that to happen though. I expect a nationally televised ass-whooping that gets Mike Smith fired.
