Morgan Burnett Denies Trash Talking to Tony Gonzalez

In regards to Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Golzalez, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports on the following:

In a story that appeared in the latest edition of ESPN The Magazine, the future Hall of Famer said part of the reason he decided to retire and not return to the Falcons next season was because none of his teammates came to his defense after Burnett yelled, "F--- you! You ain't s---" to Gonzalez.

Burnett, though, denied Gonzalez's allegations.

"I don't know where this is coming from or who said it, but I work real hard on and off the field to build a good a reputation around the league, and I've got too much respect for the game to even say something like that," Burnett said in a telephone interview on Thursday. "I've got too much respect for myself. I've got a 4-year-old son who looks up to me. I respect someone like Tony Gonzalez, who's a first-ballot Hall of Famer, to ever say or do anything like that."

I thought he wanted to retire but was talked into coming back for one more season last year to win a SB. Now suddenly he doesn't come back because of Burnett? Come on...

I've always liked Gonzo but ..... "because none of his teammates came to his defense".

Those voices in his head can't be heard by anyone else. Including your teammates on the football field.

Apparently it was Bush, not Burnett, and that doesn't surprise me.0

As if no one has ever trash talked on the football field before.

Why is this even a story? Burnett shouldn't even have to step up and defend himself.

With that said Gonzalez it's time to just fade into the sunset. You are starting to go out like Brett Favre and that's not a good thing. Shut your mouth and retire.
