Montgomery Downgraded To Doubtful, Likely To Miss 3rd Straight Game

The rookie wide receiver still dealing with lingering effects of an ankle injury suffered vs San Diego.

The Green Bay Packers desperatley need a jolt on the offensive side of the ball, but it likely won't be coming in the form of rookie wide receiver Ty Montgomery, who was downgraded from Questionable to Doubtful on Saturday due to a lingering ankle injury suffered last month against the San Diego Chargers.

From the team:

Packers WR Ty Montgomery (ankle) has been downgraded to DOUBTFUL.

Packers LB Mike Neal (hip) and CB Sam Shields (shoulder) have been upgraded to PROBABLE for tomorrow’s game against the Lions.

Shields and Neal join eleven of their teammates listed as Probable for Sunday's showdown with the Detroit Lions.

That's cool. See what rushing DaVante back did to his ankle injury. I'm sure if this was a Playoff game he'd play.

Exactly. It sucks, but what are you gonna do? He'll play when he's healthy.

I really would like to get Montgomery back. But I would rather he come back as close to 100% as possible.

If we have to wait a couple of more games but get a better player with a lesser chance of him getting injured again, I will take it.

Jersey Al, how much do the Pack need this guy, and what is his role long term?

If he has like an ankle strain with stretched, not torn ligaments (been there done this more than once), I would be surprised he would be back in two weeks let alone three.
He'll I had to have a cast on for 10 weeks and rehab so it could be a real tough situation for him.

On the flip side I got bad news for him if that's the case, its an easy recurring injury that never heals 100%. I can injure mine looking at a pot hole in a magizine.
Best of luck Ty
