McCarthy Says He'd Like to Have Kuhn, Flynn, Jolly All Back

Mike McCarthy isn't the Packers general manager, but if he had his way, he'd like to have back fullback John Kuhn, quarterback Matt Flynn and defensive lineman Johnny Jolly all back in 2014, according to Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reporting from the NFL Owners Meeting in Orlando on Tuesday:

"Pickett and Kuhn age and salary wise probably not. "

--------------------------------------------

Pickett might not want to play for the vet minimum but I would guess Kuhn would be fine with that. It's just south of $1 mil for him. I'm not sure if the new CBA still gives a cap rebate on long-term vet salaries for guys on one year at the minimum. If it does, the real cap cost of signing Kuhn would be around 200K. That's not much of a consideration.

The real $$ is absolutely zero concern. The Packers have more money than they know how to spend.

Well, this is from Journal-Sentinel:

**He wants every running back to be able to play all three downs so that he doesn't have to rotate backs in and out of the lineup on any given series. He said he would like free agent fullback John Kuhn to return.**

Return? Return where? Training Camp? I'm positive that McCarthy would never say, "No, I do not want John Kuhn back".....when directly asked by a member of the media. McCarthy is keenly aware of Kuhn's popularity.

And Journal-Sentinel implies he is referring to "camp" when talking about Flynn. Wanting someone in training camp is not quite the same as wanting someone back on the 53.

**He would like to bring back Matt Flynn, but he is still in the process of deciding whether to have four quarterbacks in camp. His preference is to have four, but it will depend on roster considerations.**

I really think that they will bring Jolly back. I think they will wait to sign him until after he clears medically, and there is a strong possibility that he will be put on the PUP list to start the season.

Kuhn, I really question if he will be back with the Starks signing.

Flynn, I think they bring him back.
