If you've followed me on Twitter for any length of time, especially during Packers games, you've seen me throw out the phrase "Lotta Ballgame Left" on more than a few occasions.
It can indeed be meant to remind my followers that there is a lot of time left in the game. But usually it's something more than that.
Usually it's meant to convey a feeling that might be creeping up inside fans while the game goes on. Sometimes this can be a feeling of dread, say, after a particularly bad play like a Pick 6 or a failed 3rd down conversion. "Hey. Don't worry. Lotta ballgame left."
Other times it can strike a more cautionary tone, perhaps after an early Packers touchdown, or an early strip-sack of Jay Cutler. "Easy now. Don't get cocky. There's a lotta ballgame left."
What's been really amazing to me is how it has resonated with fans. Most people get it. It's meant to be fun. Sure, every once in awhile some joyless asshole (usually a Vikings fan) chimes in with "how stupid it is." But I know deep down they're just jealous of how great Packers Twitter is.
It's funny how "Lotta Ballgame Left" has taken on a life of its own. It's not like it's crazy original or anything. I think most people my age who grew up in Wisconsin heard their old man (or their grandpa) say it at one time or another, most likely while the Packers were losing. (That's how it was in my house, anyway...)
It's gotten so out of hand that people ask me, more and more, if we've ever made t-shirts. Seriously, every season a growing number of followers Tweet me some version of "If you put that on a t-shirt, I would totally buy it."
Well, consider this Cheesehead TV calling your bluff.
What better way to celebrate the kickoff of another fantastic season of Green Bay Packers football?
So hurry up and get yours, because this is an extremely limited and exclusive run. You might even say, there's not a lotta ballgame left.
I'll show myself out.
Go Pack Go.
