League, Union Agree To 7 Day Extension

The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to a seven day extension in their talks aimed at agreeing to a new collective bargaining agreement.

The NFL and the NFLPA have agreed to a seven day extension in their talks aimed at agreeing to a new collective bargaining agreement. The new (and most likely final) deadline is next Friday, March 11th at 11:59pm.

League spokesman Greg Aiello indicated that teams are not allowed to process any transactions in that time (trades, signings, etc) but more than one agent I have spoken to have said that teams are still allowed to speak to them during this pause in the action.

This extension will almost certainly be the final time the deadline for both sides to come to an agreement is pushed back. By the end of next Friday there will either be a new collective bargaining agreement in place, or the union will decertify in an attempt to sue the league.
