Josh Boyd on Inactive List Opens Door for Luther Robinson

It wasn't likely that Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Josh Boyd would play in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a knee injury in the previous game against the Chicago Bears and being listed as "doubtful" on the team's injury report.

But when it was made official and Boyd was placed on the team's inactive list 90 minutes prior to kickoff, it opened the door for rookie defensive lineman Luther Robinson, who was just signed earlier in the day, promoted from the practice squad.

How much Robinson plays, if at all, remains to be seen. He may be an emergency replacement.

Boyd was one of the seven players on the inactive list. The others are:

  • Quarterback Scott Tolzien
  • Wide receiver Jarrett Boykin
  • Linebacker Sam Barrington
  • Offensive lineman Garth Gerhart
  • Linebacker Carl Bradford
  • Cornerback Demetri Goodson

That with so many promising new D players, this year, some that really showed something. Play them. Baptism by fire. Creates urgency and when it works there are so many good things that come out of it Emotion and confidence and true competition.
