Jordy Nelson Joins Pro Bowl Voting Leaders at Wide Receiver

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson joined the leaders in Pro Bowl voting among wide receivers, the NFL announced on Wednesday.

The first time the league released voting results two weeks ago, Nelson wasn't among the top two players at his position, sitting behind Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos.

With three weeks in online fan voting left, Nelson has passed Thomas, with 319,920 votes, trailing only Brown (344,629) at his position.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers also made a jump in the past two weeks, leap-frogging Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck to become the NFL's second-leading vote getter with 498,826, trailing only the Broncos' Peyton Manning (576,445).

John Kuhn remains the leader in balloting among fullbacks, ahead of Washington's Darrel Young.

Other Packers players in the top two at their position are guard Josh Sitton, the No. 2 guard, and Jarrett Bush, No. 2 in special teams.

The Pro Bowl players are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be eligible for the Pro Bowl Draft.

Voting continues through Monday Dec. 15 at NFL.com/ProBowl/Ballot.

I have zero excitement for the game or the selections.

In fact, I'd prefer the Packers get screwed with selections. If guys are not selected they will not get hurt and their agent will have one less bullet point in contract negotiations.

I'd rather they just establish the teams but not actually play the game.

Agreed, chose the players and post the results and forget the game. To make the team is an incentive for every player and they should be recognized (and rewarded based on contract bonus options). In addition, give them a family trip to Honolulu.
