Johnny Jolly Indicates He's Green-Lighted for Strength Work
Just hours from the start of free agency, the Packers defensive lineman is still working on coming back from injury.
Just hours before the start of free agency, Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly took to Twitter to state the following:
Great news from doc today. Neck Fusion is healed perfectly n have green light to start some strenght work.
— johnny jolly (@JJolly97) March 11, 2014
Jolly had offseason spinal-fusion surgery to fix a bulging disc in his neck, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.
Just because Jolly was cleared for strength work doesn't necessarily mean he's been cleared for football contact, however. He becomes a free agent at 3:00 p.m. CT, but it's likely any team will want to allow a longer period for recovery before determining whether to sign Jolly.
Given Jolly's injury and character concerns stemming from a prison sentence and NFL suspsension, he stands a better chance to return to the Packers than any other team.
It wouldn't be surprising to see Jolly start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list if and when he signs a contract.

Good news, I hope Jolly is ok and the Packers bring him back. ARod always talks about how beloved he is in the locker room and the intensity he brings to the field.

Signing Jolly would be great. Locker room guy with a nasty attitude on the field. Good example for our young DL.

Excellent, tough backup player. Knows how to play the position. Would love to see him in green and gold again.
