Expectations coming into the season:  Crockett impressed at the Shrine game in 2015, but even then had to be signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent post-draft. A big back who can grind defenses down and has the raw skills to perhaps carry a full load, Crockett was expected to come along slowly and in fact spent most of the season on the practice squad. The Packers didn't expect to need him during the season.

Player’s highlights/low-lights: Crockett was promoted to active roster status on December 3rd and then led the Packers backfield in rushing yards against the Detroit Lions. Of course, he totaled just 22 yards, but looked more sudden than expected. He also saw action in Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals, rushing the ball four times for -1 yards.

Level of Expectations met:  He served well when they needed him, and as suspected, needs more work. Crockett has the potential to be a solid change of pace back, perhaps a guy who the team can pull in to pound the rock in short yardage situations. With James Starks potentially leaving, it would have been nice to see more from Crockett to know if he is what we think - a guy who can run hard but is nothing special - or if there is more to him.

Grade: B

Player’s contributions to team success:  Crockett saw very little action, and while he did lead the backfield one time, his yards weren't a real factor.

Grade: D

Player’s contributions in the playoffs:  Crockett was on special teams against Washington but was inactive against Arizona.

Grade: D

Intangibles/misc: He's raw, but a hard worker by all accounts.

Grade: C

Overall Grade:  C

I really liked what I saw in that Detroit game. Powerful runner, good burst, hard to bring down. I hope he sticks around a while longer. Don't know why he didn't play more than Lacy the last few games.

This kid is good, needs snaps can replace Starks no problem. Just needs playing time , he should have been used more in post season , seems like MM does not trust some of his young players .

He didn't seem very assignment sure in his brief playing time. But, he did show a ton of enthusiasm in his effort. I gotta wonder how they practice these guys during the week. Guys like Crockett or Janis don't get to play with Rodgers or the A group. How are they going to be ready when pressed into action? Even Peyton Manning made reference to the handicap of not having reps and the problem of being up-to-speed. McCarthy needs to find better ways to get these guys ready and into the game.

How can you judge a guy who is relegated to the bench (a healthy scratch if you will) for an over weight fat slob who the Pack have invested a early 2 pick in. That is the crime, playing favorites who are not fit to play and letting others who need and want a chance sit on the bench: Pennel, Eliot, Starks

" TT'll never cut one of his hidden gems." well he actually did after training camp. Crockett was brought up from the PS later, after that Lacy friend who was a bad influence and probably dragged him to MickeyD or BK all the time was finally off the team...
Crockett won't be around next year, unless he can show some more. Ted will let Starks go, draft a RB, sign a couple of undrafted FAs, and then Lacy, the draftee, and 1 of the street FAs or Crockett will be the 3rd back. Crockett better show something if he wants to be that guy...

I do not think he is a change of pace back. Change from whom? I also think all of his grades should be incompletes. Just did not see enough to judge him. That said, I liked what I saw well enough. No way should anyone be able to suggest that Crockett should have taken snaps from Starks or Lacy. Based on what?

I would have liked to have seen more of Crockett. He provided a huge spark to the offense in Detroit. He came in and energized the offense.

It sounded like he didn't know the offense well enough to play more. I am wondering if that is one of the reasons why they let the RB coach go?

Hopefully Crockett fully learns the offense, so he can come in next training camp and show us what he can do. While I think he has a chance to be a good contributor, I still would like to see the Packers draft a RB in the mid rounds. Someone who is more of a change of pace/3rd down type of RB. Someone that can bring speed, shiftiness and a really good pass catching option.
