Jeff Saturday's Agent Confirms Two-Year Deal with Packers

Jeff Saturday's new deal with the Green Bay Packers has been confirmed at two years in length.

The agent for newly signed center Jeff Saturday confirmed that his deal with the Green Bay Packers is for two years.

Ralph Cindrich, who owns and operates the representation group Cindrich and Company, confirmed the length of his client's deal via Twitter.

Financial terms, including salary and guaranteed money, have yet be announced.

While only speculation at this point, it remains likely that the Packers paid somewhere in the range of $3-4.5 million a year with little financial risk past the first year. That kind of contract structure would allow the Packers to move on in 2013 if Saturday regresses and the team wants to move in a different direction.

As a backup option, expect the Packers to use a pick in April's draft on a center that can eventually be positioned to take over for Saturday.

Yes Smithers, my slippers. And tell Goodell to get rid of Sean Payton. Well, that's odd ... I've just robbed a man of his livelihood, and yet I feel strangely empty. Tell you what, Smithers - have him beaten to a pulp.

And about the Packers front-office. Look at them, Smithers. Goldbrickers.... Layabouts.... Slug-a-beds! Little do they realise their days of suckling at my teat are numbered.

Those type numbers would sure beat paying Wells $6.5 million a yr with $13m guaranteed the Rams coughed up.

Simple. He wants the better shot at another ring.

Congrats to the Packers on an awesome pick up. Saturday is not only a good and smart center, he's also a good man. I was (and still am) his #1 fan. I will continue to watch his career with the Packers. Now I just have to get a green and yellow Saturday jersey to go with my blue and white one (not to mention a pro bowl one as well).

Better chance at a championship, probably. There's also the possibility he got a better deal offered to him by GB.

That's probably more likely. With the rate Denver's going now and the crappy division they're in - they've got a real shot...

And like we found out the last 3 years - when you get in the tourney, anything can happen...

He gets to play the hurry up here. No way Denver adjusts fully to Manning's offense right away. Not to mention who says he even likes Manning? Manning is a douche, I wouldn't want to go there either.

Plus, Green Bay rules.

Interestingly, I know someone who played golf with both of the brothers, and he said Peyton was really nice and outgoing, didn't seem to have an ego about him, but Eli was very much the opposite.

The real answer is the Broncos already have a very good young center. In GB, Saturday get to be a starter, almost certainly got more $$$ and gets to be the center on maybe the best offense in the NFL. (Denver will be in the hunt for the SB so it's not that.)

I wonder if he's thinking about the HOF. He's already considered a candidate. If he goes to Denver does he just get overshadowed as that guy who snapped to Manning? If he wins one is Green Bay in the next two years does his stock go up? There has to be something behind that decision.

Ahh this is how other teams fans feel when their team signs a FA of note.

I immediately did a victory dance upon reading the news.

One less position that we have to draft early allowing us to focus on the defense. Good move.

There's a standard to be had with Saturday.

At 37 he can't have any flimsy old hand in there.

Regardless, they've done quite well together for a # of years. And they both have a great deal of respect for one another, and that is fact because I've heard them both say it.

I love that clip NFLN runs of those two screaming at each other on the sideline. Peyton telling Jeff to F'ing pass block when he's told, Jeff saying they need to run the ball.

You know, there are two ways to look at this: 1) TT knows that he has a window and wants to hit the jackpot again - in other words OR 2) he knows he has too many holes to fill in the draft so he has to get his "FA wrench" out of the "tool box." The second way seems to fit his history (ala Woodson and Pickett). The first way seems more in play here though, when you consider that Saturday is a premium guy with only a 1-2 year window himself.

As a long time packer fan living in Indianapolis Jeff Saturday is well respected here and in the NFL. Its no surprise he did not want to work in the Colt's office with Irsay (uh... uh...uh). He will do well on the Off Line, and well in GB community, as he has done in Indy. Small and older but very wise...

My impeccable sources told me that Saturday was all set to sign with Denver until some plucky Packers fan (Fitz? RS?) sent him this classic photo of Pat Bowlen. Once he saw this, he started jonesin' for sauerkraut and Johnsonville brats.
