Injury Update at Packers Training Camp: Who's Returning? Who's Dropping Out?

Defensive lineman B.J. Raji and tight end Colt Lyerla both dropped out of practice on Saturday.

A handful of players sustained injuries to varying degrees at Saturday evening's Family Night event inside Lambeau Field, although there's been no word from the organization as to their extent.

Returning to Practice

Center Corey Linsley, shoulder

After Jared Abbrederis confirmed his torn ACL earlier on Saturday, Linsley made sure both of the Packers' fifth round draft choices were not lost for the evening. Linsley missed only one practice, sitting out Friday's practice session. Engaged in a battle with J.C. Tretter for the starting center job, the Ohio State product made sure he stayed in the mix by not missing out on his first opportunity to suit up in front of a massive Lambeau Field crowd.

Dropping Out of Practice

Colt Lyerla, leg

Lyerla displayed athleticism in taking a pass and hurdled high over cornerback Jumal Rolle, trying to make a play in the red zone. However, after doing the splits while in the air, Lyerla took a shot from cornerback Jarrett Bush as he hit the ground and was later carted off the field. Head coach Mike McCarthy did not speak to the medical staff at the time of his post-practice press conference, offering little in the way of details, however, Lyerla was observed using crutches in the locker room later in the evening.

B.J. Raji, ankle

Raji got tangled up with offensive lineman Derek Sherrod while trying to rush the passer, his ankle briefly getting caught and perhaps twisted. It didn't appear serious, although Raji dropped out of action, perhaps merely playing it safe. McCarthy, likewise, didn't have any information to offer on Raji.

Still Out (anticipated return in parentheses)

Wide receiver Jared Abbrederis, knee (2015 presumably)

Defensive lineman Jerel Worthy, lower back (indefinitely)

Defensive lineman Letroy Guion, hamstring (indefinitely)

Wide receiver Jeff Janis, illness (day to day)

Safety Tanner Miller, ankle (indefinitely)

Never saw it. (I was on an airplane.) But as I have stated on here numerous times, all BS aside, I tend to ignore both extremes; I find both blind optimism (GB will win every game 70-0) and blind pessimism (they'll be lucky to go 2-14) to be equally useless.
Time will tell, as it always does.
