Further Thoughts

1. Everyone needs to calm down about the first team offense. Two of their four offensive series ended on very dubious non-calls when Packer receivers had someone draped all over them (indeed, the replay on the 3rd down 'stop' of Donald Driver makes it blindingly obvious that pass interference should have been called) If the defensive backs are allowed to interfere all season, yes, we'll be in trouble. But somehow, I don't think this will be the case. The first downs will come, starting this Saturday against Seattle.

2. Justin Harrell continues to be coddled. The kid didn't make it into the game until Pittsburgh had it's 3rd string offensive line in. And sure, he made a few plays. But he couldn't even make it to the end of the game, when, yes, our old friend, Travis Leffew had to take over. Yes, an offensive lineman! Who in all likely hood won't make the team!

3. James Jones is the real deal. If he isn't handed the #3 WR position, someone needs to be fired.

4. Our safeties continue to be the weak-link in an otherwise emerging defense. How is it that no matter who they put back there, the Packers secondary continues to have 'communication breakdowns'? It's almost like it's the coaching or something....

5. Aaron Rogers looked good, though he drifted in the pocket a few times when he really didn't need to. All in all, an excellent showing.... but 'Signs of Greatness'? Methinks someone needs some sleep over at the Press-Gazette...

UPDATED: The headline has mysteriously changed to "Shows Improvement" - think someone caught hell this morning? ;)
