Former Packers DL Ryan Pickett Signs with Texans

If the Green Bay Packers were hoping Ryan Pickett would remain available as a Plan B or emergency signing on the defensive line, he's no longer a free agent.

The Houston Texans signed Pickett on Wednesday, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. To make room, the Texans placed rookie nose tackle Louis Nix on injured reserve.

After his contract expired last season, the Packers never showed much interest in re-signing the 34-year-old Pickett, who played for the Packers for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013.

Even after B.J. Raji was lost for the season with a torn biceps, the Packers decided to stand pat along the defensive line, choosing not to bring in any outside help.

Pickett was a member of the Packers' Super Bowl XLV championship team and received the team's franchise tag in 2010.

Former Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly remains a free agent.

Good for him - would have liked to see Big Grease back in Green Bay.

How the hell are those Texan fans going to tell Pickett and Clowney apart? Body doubles.
