Former Packer Charles Woodson Re-Ups with Raiders

Two full seasons after the Green Bay Packers decided veteran defensive back and future Hall of Famer Charles Woodson was too expensive for them, the Oakland Raiders are bringing him back for a third consecutive season, signing him to a contract on Monday.

Woodson was set to become an unrestricted free agent in March. He played with the Packers for seven seasons from 2006 to 2012, won the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2009 and helped the Packers win Super Bowl XLV in 2010.

With Woodson set to count $10 million against the salary cap in 2013, the Packers parted way with him before reuniting with former Green Bay executive Reggie McKenzie, now the Raiders general manager.

The Packers, meanwhile, struggled through the 2013 season at the safety position, where they didn't get a single interception between Morgan Burnett, M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian.

Woodson has gone on to start all 16 games the past two seasons and in 2014, he led the Raiders with 160 tackles (105 solo) and four interceptions. He also added nine passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one sack.

Good luck Charles! My all-time favorite Packer. Classy all around, and I am glad he got the ring with us!

I honestly hope we give him a one day retirement contract. He is a Packer legend.

Who knows, we might even invite him back as a consultor?
