Despite Bye, Packers' Odds of Winning the Super Bowl Get Shorter

Despite not playing in Week 9 of the NFL due to their anual bye, the odds of the Green Bay Packers winning the Super Bowl got shorter in the past week, according to online oddsmaker Bovada.lv.

The Packers' odds of the Super Bowl went from 10-1 to 9-1.

Only four teams in the NFL have shorter odds than the Packers: the Denver Broncos (7-2), New England Patriots (6-1) and Seattle Seahawks (8-1).

The Seahawks may have shorter odds to win the Super Bowl, but they're tied with the Packers as 4-1 favorites to win the NFC conference.

The Packers, however, are the sole favorites to win the NFC North division at 2-3 odds, ahead of the Detroit Lions (5-4), Minnesota Vikings (25-1) and Chicago Bears (33-1).

In the past week, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was also leap-frogged by several players in the running for the NFL's MVP award, despite his odds getting shorter.

Rodgers' odds went from 10-1 to 7-1 in the past week, but five players have shorter odds: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (3-1), Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (7-2), Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (4-1), Dallas Cowboys running back Demarco Murray and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (both 6-1).

Apparently we do not mention the name of the Patriots' quarterback out of fear of offending Marcia or,
bless her soul, Alice.
