Brett Favre on Green Bay Reunion: "It's Going to Happen"

During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Tuesday, Brett Favre echoed many of his comments since leaving the Packers organization but also spoke of a potential reunion by saying "It's going to happen."

In a discussion with Packers preseason television announcer Rich Gannon along with Bruce Murray, Favre said he's very proud of his long career in Green Bay and what he's accomplished but doesn't regret leaving the organization.

Favre spoke in very general terms about a return to Lambeau Field, saying, "We're trying to figure out which game," but wouldn't even go as far as to say it would happen this season or whether it would it would involve his jersey being retired or any other recognition.

UPDATE: Sirius XM has posted audio of select portions of Favre's interview online. Here's what he had to say:

It needs to be done, he was great for many years on the field. Exciting times and a SB its to bad the last year or two made such a rift between fans.

What rift? Favre made a fool of himself and showed his true character. Fans that supported him made fools of themselves too. Rodgers, Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and the Packers fans that supported the organizational decision got the last laugh. I'm sure there were Favre backers that hated to see the Packers win XLV....and they've still got egg on their face.

Favre did exactly what I thought he'd do. He threw a game ending interception against the Saints in the Playoffs.

When I heard he wanted to go to the Vikings to get even, I wasn't surprised. When I heard he approached the Lions to try and help them win, I wasn't surprised either.

I know lots of Packers fans, but not one of them was in Favre's camp....especially after he showed up on Greta Van Sustren trying to throw people under the bus. #fail

Favre's passer rating in his last 12 postseason games was a pedestrian 77.8. In his last five wild-card games, he went 2-3 with more interceptions (nine) than touchdown passes (seven). In his last three divisional playoff games, he went 1-2 with seven TDs and seven interceptions. That's a 3-5 record with 14 touchdown passes and 16 picks.

In two of his last four postseason appearances, Favre threw two of the most unthinkable playoff interceptions in NFL history, both in overtime -- to Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003 and to Corey Webster of the New York Giants in January. In fact, Favre is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw overtime interceptions in two playoff games. In his last nine playoff games, Favre threw 18 interceptions.

Its football and a job. If anyone leaves their place of employment they find a new job and move on. Packers' fans suffered for 20+ years, me included. The 90's were great and with the exception of couple of so so rebuilding years between then and now, its been great. He gave everything he could to the Packers and looked dead in the water. Then he stuck a dagger in the Vikings heart! Love it. Football is great. I'll try to get tickets to the show when it happens.

I was totally pissed at Favre the way he left and then his days with the Vikings really rubbed it in. Who can forget the "Thanks Ted" Vikings jersey his wife wore to the GB game? I was actually pissed at him when he first started his annual retirement crap a few years before he actually left. But time goes on. I really don't care much about that issue anymore. If he comes back that's fine...if not, then that's OK too.

I dunno. There were a lot of Sundays where Brett Favre made my whole day, even my whole week. I wore #4 shirts all the time. That said, I hated him enough at the end that in that last Vikings-Bears game in 2010, I actually cheered for the Bears. Loudly. It made me sick, but I could think of no worthier end for the man than to fall so low as to have his bell rung by the Chicago Bears. Our Packers Bar in Seattle is called the Mustard Seed. When our boys won the Super Bowl, the whole bar erupted spontaneously into chanting "FUCK BRETT FAVRE!" I yelled as loudly as anyone.

I don't think I hate him anymore. The truth is that we were all scared we'd go back to the '70s and '80s and we didn't. Aaron Rodgers is all that and a bag of chips. It's easy to let go now that we know we don't have two decades of mediocre football ahead of us. That said, I feel like I agree with what Brian wrote a few years ago. I don't care if they ever retire his number.

What makes a sports hero is not identical to what makes a great athlete. Favre was, without a doubt, one of the greatest athletes who ever did and ever will play on the Packers. But I can't see him as a hero.

Rodgers says he strives to emulate Bart Starr. Rodgers is a wise man.

The int he threw in the NFCCG in N.O. was meant to be. Having the Viqueens go down like that was great, especially when he said it was the best team he ever played on. Did you forget the SB title you won with Reggie? His ego got way bigger than the game and fans.
