Brandon Merriweather Fined $42,000 for Hit on Eddie Lacy

According to additional information from Paul Imig of FoxSportsWisconsin.com, Merriweather was apparently fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Eddie Lacy this past Sunday's game, but not for his hit on James Starks.

Lacy suffered on concussion on the play, and Merriweather sustained a concussion of his own in his collision with Starks.

Maybe they figured knocking himself out was punishment enough. They thought wrong.

So where's the fine for the second hit, the one that went against Starks and knocked Meri's a** out cold??? Like Mark said, the KO must've been seen as punishment enough. Will this fine or self-injury change Meri's playing style?

This fine show the NFL is not really serious about these hits. The fine system has not worked and Meri's the example for that look at his history. If the NFL really wanted to make these hits go away the player using making the hit should not be allowed to play until the play who was hit is back. Meri gets a fine this time and Lacy is out, makes no sense.

Totally agree these guys sit until the other guy comes back.

Also, the NFL office should be doing in game reviews from the booth or a central office and benching the helmet to helmet offenders during the game. Don't leave it up to the officials that only get to see it once at full speed to make the judgement.

Not picking nits here, but Meriweather is spelled with one "r." I know many (including La Canfora) make that mistake.

These fines are a total joke. Its like making Trump pay a $17 parking ticket for his limo being in the wrong spot.
Game ejections for deliberate hits should be the norm now. If the commish truely wants safety then he has to start having ejections: Suh, ejected, 100,000 fine, ditto meriweather, et al.

Any game ejection is 100K fine. Not appealable.

Wait until meriweather sues the league 10 years from now for concussion issues, he'll get more than 42k back.
