Aaron Rodgers Receives Bart Starr Award

Aaron Rodgers accepts the Bart Starr Award at the Superbowl Breakfast in New York City.

NEW YORK CITY––A very special morning for Packer Fans especially the one writing this post. The last time I was 4 feet from Packer legends was the last time I was at the Superbowl Breakfast for XLV in Dallas listening to Packer & Dallas greats discuss the Ice Bowl.

This was something really magical.

Two of the greatest Green Bay Packer Quarterbacks of all time in one room. And I was literally 4 feet away...

Bart Starr will and will always be my favorite Green Bay Packer. Hopefully, we will be able to see Bart, Brett and Aaron standing together one day.

Bart Starr does not get enough credit for being a great QB. You never hear him mentioned when talking about the all-time greats because he played in an era that wasn't pass crazy and he played on a run first defensive juggernaut team.

He was a huge part of those great teams. Way bigger than most people give him credit for being. He had some years with absolutely crazy numbers in relation to the other QBs of the day. He still holds the record for career QB rating in the playoffs at 104.8 despite playing in an era when most QBs had ratings in the high 70s or low 80s.

Some places give Starr quite a bit of credit, just not the media that is infatuated w/ fancy numbers. You should enjoy this!

I've spent a fair amount of time at CHFF.com. I've gotten a lot of what I believe about QB play from that site. But I've never seen that article before. Thanks, Stroh.

Your welcome... In case you didn't notice the article was from '08. Pre-Rodgers. It'll be interesting to see in another decade what it looks like. I've bookmarked that article along w/ a couple other really good one. Here's another one about Favre.

Yep - he's a great guy.
Just sick and tired of watching his teams get their asses beat in the playoffs.

Bart wouldn't have lost 4 straight to the 49'ers.

Ever.

Enough commercials.
Enough radio shows.
Enough awards ceremonies.

Lead your team.

Playoff wins don't mean shit if they don't lead to a Lombardi.

Just ask Jim Harbaugh, the Andy Reid of this decade.

What had to be the lowest point in GB Packer history, happened to Bart Star. You probably won't believe this, but I was there. Not sure of the year, it may have been 1970. Bart played with a Very Bad elbow injury. At County Stadium, against the Vikings, Bart missed a 3rd down pass, & came off the field holding his arm. After winning 5 Championships, & 2 Super Bowls, he was literally Booed off the field. I couldn't believe it. BART STAR is a Cut Above The Rest, & remains a CLASS ACT, TO THIS DAY.

Let's go position by position...

QB - solid (though shallow)
RB - solid
WR - good (but Cobb, Nelson, Boykin is nowhere near the core they had just a few years ago... Jennings, Cobb, Nelson, Driver. so the position is regressing)
TE - weak
OL - average

DL - weak
ILB - weak
OLB - average (would be above average if the only capable player could stop getting hurt)
S - weak
CB - weak

So, no, not everything about the Packers sucks. QB, RB, WR are ok. Trouble everywhere else, though... and yet most of you think they're still "contenders".

Whatever.

Yeah, but it is nice to have a "solid" QB situation with Aaron Rodgers. Yup, "solid" player that Aaron Rodgers is.

A "solid" player like that might just cover up an "eroding" WR group (along with many other things). One might even reasonably conclude a "solid" QB like Rodgers could thrive with even further "erosion". "Solid" QBs like Rodgers do that sort of thing routinely. In fact, one might argue Rodgers has already been doing that. Jennings and Driver go away, Nelson & Cobb become even more productive and Boykin emerges.

Just imagine what a "solid" QB like Rodgers can do in a full season with a running game that has upgraded to "solid" from "weak". One might even conclude thinking about that would make most Packer fans smile. At least, it certainly makes this Packer fan smile.

"One might even conclude thinking about that would make most Packer fans smile..." until they remember what a disaster the defense is.

Amazing your ability to take being a D Bag to a whole new level Cow; making some insinuations that Rodgers is off his game due to endorsements, awards, et al. Go buy a Papa Gino's pizza tomorrow with Peyton Manning's mug on it, rub it on yourself and frolic with a pack of hungry wolves. You will doing a great community service.

Of course TK I forgot Peyton is no good either! Let us not forget Kaepernick is Cow's QB of choice, and Kaep is a really great charming spiritual guy too. I think Cow has visions of them riding a tandem bike together through the park.

Oh wait...Kaep isn't in the Superbowl? What happened? Darned interception couldn't have been his fault. He's too clutch and cool for that.

Let's predict Cow's best effort at a witty comeback to this...3...2...1...go!

..."and Kaep is a really great charming spiritual guy too."

Who the hell cares what kind of guy he is?

I'll take 53 players straight out of prison if they're gonna win a championship.

Do we have to compare Kprnck's and Manning's playoff numbers over the last 2 seasons to Rodgers' over the same span?

That would be sobering.

Rodgers is what he is. A good QB who piles up gaudy sats vs crap teams in the regular season. Lately his performances vs championship caliber teams has been LACKING.

Apparently YOU care what kind of guy a player is Cow.

YOU called Rodgers "solid (but shallow)".

You have attacked his character twice on this post alone (ironically so, because he is receiving a character award).

Hence I made a comment sarcastically glorifying Kaep's ability, but also his character, because character, i.e. "what kind of guy you are" to use your words DOES MATTER to you, as evidenced by the fact that you took twice to attacking Rodgers' person. It's all in writing in your post above for all to see.

Of course I don't expect you to understand this, and we have learned to expect nothing short of stupidity from you instead of well-formulated unbiased argumentation without contradiction. So please by all means carry on embarrassing yourself....

I know the attention empowers you.

But of course there is still that other lame comment that somehow he is not leading the team due to commercials endorsements and ceremonies. He is getting a leadership award from Bart Starr. I guess you have better judgement than ole' Bart now too.

You say you know why people on this site hate you? No you really don't.

YOu Packer fans crack me up...you live in such a world of DELUSION and DENIAL...Yes, Rodgers is a good QB...but you assholes hammered the shit out of FAVRE and he didn't have HALF the team that Rodgers has had to work with...Sherman was a godawful GM and Coach...and Favre kept your team relevant and in the hunt, year after year..

Your beloved "Golden Boy" Aaron Rodgers shit down his leg against the 49ers, and yet...nothing but praise.

If Favre had done that, you turncoat scum would have been badmouthing him up and down, out of the sides of your hypocritical mouths...but nothing can touch your Golden Boy Rodgers or Ted Thompson...No one can pop that "delusional bubble" that you live in, even though Rodgers only has ONE SUPERBOWL and has not been that great in the playoffs as of late..

Hell, they shouldn't even have beaten the BEARS to get to the playoffs...

But not ONE of you hypocrites would admit that.

Yeah, lets blame it all on FAVRE...must be his fault still that you can't make it back to GLORY...

BULLSHIT!

Yeah cuz you know Ahman Green was a pitiful excuse for a RB, Driver sucked as a WR, Chmura and Keith Jackson couldn't play TE well at all. And that horrid OL w/ Clifton, Wahle, Flanagan, Rivera and Tauscher couldn't give Favre any time or open any holes for Green.

Biamila couldn't rush the QB. Sharper was a poor safety even at his best.

Funny how almost all of them were somehow Pro Bowlers a few times! Also funny how you sound just like a viqueens fan!

Yeah..Stroh..that was what...20 years ago?

Ergo, my point. Favre had crap to play with for more than half his career.

But yeah, that Billy Schroeder was a pro-bowl, first ballot HOF'amer for sho'....
